I work with clients who are struggling with feeling "not good enough" whether because of their own inner critic or because of marginalization and oppression from a world that is telling you you are "too much," or "not enough." I am passionate about helping clients move past their anxiety, self-doubt, and self-criticism to feel confident, secure, and proud of themselves. I also integrate career counseling into my work, helping clients move towards a future they are excited about. I offer individual and group therapy online for folks located in California and Connecticut. I see clients in person from my office in Ridgefield, CT. Anxiety, sadness, loneliness, low self-esteem, self-doubt, distress, difficulty sleeping and discomfort in our bodies are indicators that we need support. I am passionate about helping clients navigate difficult transitions, using these challenges as catalysts for healing and growth. With over 25 years of experience in various therapeutic modalities, I provide client-centered and trauma-responsive therapy grounded in compassion and empathy. It is a privilege to guide clients in processing and integrating past and present experiences. I employ Internal Family Systems (IFS) "parts work" (an approach that helps us understand and heal from past experiences by identifying and addressing different parts of our psyche), attachment theory, EMDR and Interpersonal and Social Rhythm Therapy (IPSRT).

I've worked with parents in the Sacramento area for 2 decades now, but as my own children have grown into young adults I have also made a shift into working with college students of any age. I'm not sure whether it's an openness to learning that extends to person growth, my ability to relate to the challenges of academia, or what exactly makes the relationship so successful, but I have found it to be mutually beneficial to the students I work with. I use an eclectic approach of mindfulness, psychodynamic, and CBT to balance short term immediate benefits with long term personal growth.

Everyone goes through challenges in life and there is no shame in admitting you could use some support. It takes courage to reach out for help, and I applaud you for taking that first step. I work with clients who are experiencing anxiety or depression, those who are having a difficult time balancing life demands, or difficulty dealing with distressing life events. I work collaboratively with clients to work on what they choose to work on. I employ strength-based practices to help improve mood and self-esteem, decrease anxiety, and help you move into a more well-balanced and happy life. You deserve a more peaceful, enjoyable life! I am currently meeting with clients both in-person and through telehealth. My office is in the village of La Jolla, which is easily accessible by public transportation. If you are neurodivergent or queer, you may feel like you have to hide your true self in fear of being rejected by others. You often mimic others to fit in, hide your true self, and strive for perfection to gain acceptance. Simply for being yourself, you're labeled as "weird," "strange," or "different," leading to deep feelings of isolation. If you're figuring out your differences or struggling with your needs, there is a way to go from just getting by to doing well. Clients come to me for help understanding their autism, ADHD, or queer identity. They value my knowledge in neurodivergence and LGBTQ+ issues. I strongly support you in embracing and discovering your true self, standing by you throughout your journey. The right therapist for you listens without judgment or projecting normative expectations. Working together, you'll release long-suppressed tears and gain 'aha!' insights into your past and present. Email me for a free 15-minute consultation to see if I'm the right fit for you!

Many people come into therapy feeling internally divided — a part of them wants connection while another part pulls away, a part wants change while another part feels scared, overwhelmed, or stuck. My work is centered around helping people understand these different parts of themselves with curiosity instead of shame. I offer short-term, focused therapy that combines deep conversation, nervous system awareness, mindfulness, and medicine-assisted therapy when appropriate. Rather than approaching people as “broken,” I see emotional patterns as intelligent adaptations that once helped someone survive, cope, or stay connected. My approach is influenced by IFS/parts work, attachment theory, somatic therapy, and contemplative practices, while staying grounded, relational, and practical. I tend to work actively and intentionally with clients rather than remaining indefinitely in open-ended therapy. The goal is to help people recognize the patterns that keep repeating in relationships, anxiety, depression, self-criticism, emotional reactivity, or disconnection — and begin relating to themselves with more clarity, compassion, and honesty. Many clients describe the process as both deep and relieving because they begin to experience that they are not one fixed identity, but a complex human being made up of different parts all trying, in their own ways, to protect them.
I would like to first congratulate you on being here and taking that first step towards improving your health and wellbeing. If you are trying to navigate the physical and mental struggles of day-to-day life, want to learn effective ways to cope and manage symptoms, to practice healthy communication with others, improve your outlook on life and lived experiences or even just want someone to listen to your story in a nonjudgmental space, you have come to the right place. Together, we will work towards identifying what goals you have in order to promote balance and help you live your life!

Being a student can feel overwhelming at times. Between classes, work, relationships, and figuring out who you’re becoming, it’s easy to feel anxious, burned out, or stuck. I want you to know that you don’t have to handle it alone. I provide a supportive, judgment-free space where you can talk openly and build tools that fit your life. It only takes a few sessions to feel more confident and in control. I specialize in strategies for coping with anxiety, panic and depression, as well as the management of ADHD. CBT strategies can be useful to resolve issues of procrastination or perfectionism. Together, we will decide which counseling approach and modality works best for you. I accept most insurance plans, including Cal-Optima/Medicaid. Depending on your particular insurance, I will guide you to schedule through the Headway or Octave platforms. All telehealth sessions are conducted in a private, HIPAA-compliant space.
Finding the right therapist can feel overwhelming and you don’t have to navigate it alone. I also offer support for those experiencing suicidal ideation and provide tools for healing from attachment wounds. Using evidence-based practices, I’ll help you explore your thoughts and behaviors, which can lead to positive change. Together, we’ll build resilience by enhancing your coping strategies, cultivating self-awareness and fostering healthy relationships. My integrative approach draws from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), strengths-based techniques, motivational interviewing, and talk therapy to meet your needs. Whether in-person or via telehealth, I offer individual, family, and couples therapy. A trusting and secure therapeutic relationship is essential for healing, and I invite you to take the first step by scheduling a complementary 15-minute introductory call. Let’s connect and explore how we can work together toward your therapeutic goals.
Hello/Saludos! I welcome you to the start of your therapy journey and your desire to heal and learn about yourself. At times, navigating our lives and relationships can be hard, and we might feel sad, angry, or overwhelmed. Therapy can be one way to get the support you need to feel better, grow, and thrive in your life and relationships. I will happily help you achieve that. I really love working with college students and was very fortunate to do so during both my internship at the counseling center at Ohio University, and my postdoc at the counseling center UC Merced. Your psychotherapy journey with me will be collaborative, where you lead the way, and I will serve as your co-pilot. I work from an integrative, multiculturally centered, and tailored approach to meet your needs. I will support you from a compassionate, non-judgmental, and caring stance. Our work together will highlight areas in your life needing attention and care, and identify behaviors no longer serving you, so you feel relief from anxiety, conflict, emotional fluctuations, frustration, low mood, sadness, and stress. You will notice improvements in your self-esteem and relationships. I look forward to working with you and providing support to help you thrive and feel better. I love being a therapist and witnessing the transformation that can happen in therapy. I am a bilingual therapist and offer therapy in both English and Spanish. I want you to live your best life, as they say/como dicen. Sería un placer trabajar con usted y apoyarle para que prospere en su vida.
**I offer Telehealth** *Sliding scale based on income** Hi! My name is Jill Pittman and I am an alumni of SCU (undergrad & grad). Therapy Sucks. It’s time-consuming, uncomfortable, and to some, it feels like a sign of weakness. Who wants to show their ugly scary part to a stranger? The reality is – if you are seeking out therapy, it means that you are strong enough and brave enough to be willing to admit that we could all use some help navigating through painful or confusing times. It is a basic human need to have other humans witness our pain, problems, joys, and successes. I'm real. I'm approachable. I may or may not have a potty mouth. And I don't think therapy should be some stale, clinical, sterile experience. In our sessions, I'll show you how to be vulnerable and genuine by being that way myself. Let me be real with you, so you can be real with me. I'll laugh at your jokes if you will laugh at mine. I might even drop some f-bombs if you are lucky. You can even show me your favorite cat video(s) or we can listen to your favorite song. I welcome diversity including all body sizes, races, sexual orientations, gender identities, religions, sexual preferences, and especially those who may feel less welcome or accepted in other settings. I am LGBTQIA affirming, Kink Aware, and Poly Friendly. Call me today to discuss how I can be a support to you.
Welcome, I’m so glad you’re here. For many of us, our early adulthood is filled with self-doubt and questions of where do we belong. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, or challenges in relationships, I am here to support you. I specialize in identity development and have firsthand experience at how much a difference a solid sense of self can make in a person's life. Regardless of what you're bringing to therapy, I see you as the expert in your own life; if we're walking into the depths of your mind, you're leading and I'm merely holding the lantern. I believe in a holistic, trauma-informed, and systems-based approach, understanding that the struggles we encounter are often connected to the larger picture of our lives. My goal is to create a safe, supportive environment where you feel empowered to explore the challenges that are holding you back, and together, we can work toward meaningful growth and healing.
If you want to learn skills to cope with anxiety and depression, then this is the place for you. I specialize in supporting young adults navigate the complex layers of generational trauma. I use a client-center approach and when appropriate, we’ll incorporate holistic practices or collaborate with other health professionals like doctors and nutritionists. By integrating therapeutic techniques, I aim to help balance the weight of your cultural heritage with the demands of a new world; honoring your past while building your future.

There is nothing worse than feeling like you have become a disappointment to your family. That no matter how hard you try to navigate college, nothing you do will ever be good enough. Are you looking for a way to help your family understand YOUR struggles? To validate and support you, instead of saying, "it's just a phase, it will pass" or "Everyone has a hard time, you just need to try harder" or worse, "When I was your age I went through the same thing". I believe no one knows you better than you know yourself- even your family-and I want to help you express your needs in a way your family will hear, understand and be able to support you.
