Therapists for college students near University of Colorado Boulder
You may feel like you’re falling short of where you think you “should” be, moving through life on autopilot. Some days emotions feel overwhelming; other days you may feel numb or disconnected from yourself and your body. Life, like the ocean, moves in waves—some gentle, others surging. I support individuals navigating anxiety, depression, and trauma, as well as identity concerns, emotional regulation, and feeling disconnected or unsure of themselves. When the tide feels unsteady, therapy can offer grounding and support. Our work together focuses on creating safety, strengthening coping skills, and helping you reconnect with yourself in meaningful ways. You don’t have to face these waves alone. If this resonates, call me or send me a message to explore whether we’re a good fit.
Hi! Thanks for reaching out to our group- we would love to help! Our practice specializes in talk therapy and neurofeedback and talk therapy or a mix of both for anxiety, trauma/PTSD, depression, mood/emotion regulation, OCD, and neurodivergence (ADHD, Autism, highly sensitive people (HSP), just to name a few. We have two office locations (Broomfield and Westminster) and all of our therapists offer telehealth appointments as well. Check out our website and bios, or give us a call or email and we can help you find a therapist on our team!
You will find me to be an authentic and direct therapist that will focus on your values and strengths to guide the therapy process. My philosophy is that therapy is the space to get into how and why what you’re trying to do differently isn’t working (because you probably already have enough people willing to tell you), and what you should be doing with your life. I won’t promise that therapy will make the hard stuff in your life go away, but what I know it can do is help you find a way through the hard stuff with meaning and help build resilience. My specialties include depression, anxiety, family of origin issues, interpersonal distress and eating disorders (including binge eating, Bulimia, ARFID, Anorexia and disordered eating as a result of trauma or chronic illness). I also have experience with borderline personality disorder, complex trauma and navigating how to be the support person for a loved one going through mental health issues. In my 10+ years as a therapist I have supported individuals and families as they move through some of the hardest moments in their lives and into a fulfilling, meaningful journey forward and look forward to helping you do the same. I use ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) as the foundation to conceptualize the concerns you’re seeking help with. Once we both have a clear picture of the issues, we will get creative within a wide range of therapy modalities to find interventions that fit your life & temperament. In addition to seeing clients, I also provide supervision to psychology students and post graduate clinicians working on their hours for licensure. “I am thankful for my struggle because without it I wouldn’t have discovered my strength. I am learning to honor the space between no longer & not yet.” – unknown
When you enter my office, you enter a safe space intended for change. Asking for help is not always easy and you are taking the first steps towards a gratifying life. Healing is a journey, and I would love to join you down this path to accomplish your goals. I am here to listen and support you every step of the way. During our time together I hope we can identify what is holding you back and create a plan that best supports you. Most things in life are not one-size-fits-all and the same applies to therapy practices. You are the expert in your own experience so I will tailor my skills to best fit your needs. Before coming to Better Life, I worked with adoptees and their families to manage programs and foster community. Some of my other work includes facilitating group discussions, leading activities that promote self-identity and character, helping youth to take on a positive self-view, and supporting social interaction for older adults.
My approach to therapy is person-centered and focuses on identifying & building upon one’s internal strengths, rather than deficits. I view the therapeutic process as a collaborative partnership. Together, we work toward goals that feel authentic and meaningful to you. I offer consistent, unconditional support while also “keeping it real” in a way that enables honesty, growth, and connection. Authenticity is one of my core values, and I hope that showing up as my true self encourages a foundation of safety and trust in our work together. I respect every client’s individual experiences, journey, culture and viewpoints and I offer a welcoming space to explore client’s concerns, goals, etc. I believe everyone carries a unique story, and sometimes life’s challenges or traumas can distort the way we understand ourselves. My goal is to help clients reframe their narratives, develop more compassionate self-talk, and navigate life’s ups and downs with greater confidence and ease. We all have inherent strengths and I strive to help clients identify, reclaim, and nurture those unique gifts. I have extensive experience in the mental health field across a variety of settings, working with adults of diverse backgrounds and concerns. Much of my work has included supporting neurodivergent clients (particularly ADHD), LGBTQIA++ individuals, folks going through difficult life transitions and women with complicated trauma. I specialize in trauma, addiction, depression, anxiety, and grief. I also have a passion for working with members of the kink community and the geriatric population.
Figuring out who you are and what you want while in college is such a powerful but stressful time. Not to mention trying to navigate friendships, family, your own mental health, and possibly figuring out other identity pieces, too (such as sexuality, gender identity, or possible neurodivergence). I get how confusing and big things can feel and I would absolutely love to dive into all of the things that are important to you. Helping you sort through your emotions, ideas, boundaries, relationships, values, identity, and where you want to go in life (and attempt to take care of yourself in the process). I bring creativity, humor, experiential approaches (art or somatic work), and trauma-informed perspectives to how I work. I am also a queer and neurodivergent identified therapist, so I understand the process of coming to understand yourself when you feel different from the world around you.
I help college students with anxiety, ADHD and family conflict. I specialize in helping them with the uncertainty of being on their own, the pressure of pleasing their family, and working through relationship stressors to graduate. Most of my clients are young men making a transition to launching and women that feel judged by other women and family.
College and early adulthood can feel overwhelming, isolating, and confusing, and you don’t have to navigate it alone. As a therapist, I’m committed to creating a space where students feel seen, supported, and empowered to navigate both the challenges and growth opportunities that come with college life. My approach blends compassion, collaboration, and trauma-informed practices to help students build resilience, deepen self‑understanding, and move toward meaningful change. I work with individuals facing concerns such as anxiety, depression, identity exploration, relationship stress, academic pressure, and career counseling. My goal is to meet each client with curiosity and respect, honoring their unique story and personal strengths. I understand as a student how hectic academic life can be. I strive to facilitate a therapeutic space where individuals can freely communicate their feelings, find their own voice, and process their experiences. Together, we identify what’s getting in the way and develop useful tools to support emotional well‑being and personal thriving. If you are interested in beginning therapy or have any questions about my therapy services I am happy to chat by phone or email.
Whatever is bringing you to therapy, I believe in creating a space to meet what’s here with curiosity, kindness, and support. Hi, I’m Megan. I’m a somatic therapist and have been in practice for 10 years. I work with colleges students and young adults to meet what’s coming up, be it anxiety, overwhelm, relationship challenges, life transitions, questions of identity, past experiences, or whatever may be happening for you. I support my clients through present moment connection, helping you listen more deeply to what's here, and making space for your experience to be seen and met. One of the things I love about somatic therapy is the understanding that we all have an innate impulse toward health and wholeness inside of us. I meet my clients where they are, and help create the conditions so your inner wisdom can come through and you can feel more at home in yourself and your life.
You may be someone who has spent years holding things together—building a career, caring for others, navigating difficult relationships, or simply doing what needed to be done—only to find yourself feeling anxious, overwhelmed, burned out, stuck, or uncertain about what comes next. Life transitions, grief, trauma, relationship difficulties, family dynamics, and changes in identity can leave even highly capable people struggling to feel like themselves. My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that meaningful change comes from both feeling deeply understood and developing practical ways to move forward. I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, burnout, substance use concerns, relationship and family challenges, existential crises, and major life transitions. I draw from evidence-based approaches including DBT and CBT while tailoring therapeutic work to the individual rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach. Before becoming a therapist, I practiced law, and I understand the pressures that can accompany demanding careers, major professional transitions, and the experience of reconsidering the life you thought you were supposed to have. I bring both compassion and curiosity to therapy, along with respect for the complexity of each person’s story. Therapy can be a place to understand the patterns that keep you stuck, make sense of painful experiences, explore questions of meaning and purpose, and begin building a life that feels more connected, meaningful, and genuinely your own. I would be honored to work alongside you in that process.
Healing starts when we feel seen, heard, and accepted. My goal is to create a safe, caring, and holding space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Therapy is a team effort, and I want to build a trusting relationship that helps clients as we work together toward real, lasting change. Before I became a therapist, I spent more than 24 years as a Buddhist nun. During that time, I learned mindfulness, compassion, patience, and how to listen attentively. These experiences shape how I work with clients today. My practice is based on proven therapy methods, but I also believe that real healing comes from genuine connection, curiosity, and self-kindness. I earned my master’s in clinical Mental Health Counseling from Naropa University, with a focus on Contemplative Psychotherapy and Buddhist Psychology. As a pre-licensed therapist, I have helped teens and adults facing trauma, anxiety, depression, PTSD, grief, relationship issues, stress, self-esteem struggles, and big life changes. I have also worked closely with survivors of domestic violence and abuse, supporting them as they rebuild safety, confidence, and hope. My approach is trauma-informed, client-centered, and respectful of the client’s background. I use mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and compassion-based techniques to meet each client’s needs. I believe everyone can grow and heal, and I feel honored to help clients reconnect with their strengths and make meaningful changes. If you are going through a life change, healing from trauma, or just want a place where you can be yourself without judgment, I would love to support you on your healing journey.
Life can feel overwhelming and hard. Trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, chronic pain, relationship difficulties, identity questions, and major life transitions can leave you feeling disconnected from yourself and uncertain about how to move forward. At Evolve in Nature, we believe therapy should provide a safe, compassionate, judgment-free, and shame-free space where you can speak openly, explore what you are experiencing, and feel supported as you work toward meaningful change. Our approach goes beyond traditional talk therapy. We recognize that difficult experiences can affect the mind, body, nervous system, relationships, and the way you experience the world. Our clinicians use individualized, trauma-informed, and evidence-based approaches that may include EMDR, somatic and body-centered therapy, mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, psychodynamic therapy, attachment-based work, psychological education, and nature-based interventions. Rather than simply addressing symptoms, we help clients better understand the patterns and experiences beneath them while developing practical skills for emotional regulation, resilience, healthier relationships, and lasting growth. Evolve in Nature offers individual, couples, and group therapy for adults and young adults facing a wide range of emotional, relational, and life challenges. Areas of support include trauma and PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, chronic illness and pain, relationship concerns, emotional regulation, identity exploration, LGBTQ+ concerns, adult children of alcoholics, and other experiences that may interfere with feeling connected, grounded, and fulfilled. Psychiatric medication management is also available for individuals who may benefit from medication as part of a thoughtful and collaborative treatment plan. Therapy may take place in our welcoming Boulder office, virtually, or outdoors when nature-based work is appropriate and meaningful to the client. Outdoor therapy may involve walking, sitting in a natural environment, or intentionally using nature to support grounding, reflection, nervous-system regulation, and connection. Nature does not replace the therapeutic relationship; it offers another setting and resource through which healing and personal growth can occur. Beginning therapy can feel vulnerable or intimidating. You do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out, and you do not need to carry everything alone. At Evolve in Nature, we meet you where you are, take time to understand your experiences and goals, and work collaboratively to determine the support that is right for you. Healing is possible. Growth is possible. You are capable of evolving into a more connected, resilient, and authentic version of yourself.

At Denver Wellness Counseling, we help individuals recover from trauma, dysfunctional family systems, PTSD, relationship struggles, depression, anxiety, stressful life transitions, and grief and loss. We specialize in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapy, and offer an individualized approach to meet your personal goals for counseling. I'm Dr. Caroline Mazzer, a licensed psychologist working with college-age clients using CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy) and DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy). I help clients who are struggling with anxiety, difficulty managing intense emotions, self-injury, suicidal thoughts, and mood disorders. College brings a lot of emotional intensity: new independence, new pressures, and often new or worsening struggles with mood and self-regulation. In our work together, you'll build concrete DBT skills for tolerating distress, regulating emotion, and staying safe, alongside a therapeutic relationship where you feel genuinely supported rather than judged.
I'm Dr. Ashley Coburn, a psychologist candidate working with college-age clients using DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy). My expertice is in treating anxiety disorders, personality disorders, mood disorders and eating disorders. I work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, emotion dysregulation, self-injury, suicidal ideation, depression, restrictive eating, bing purge behavior, and trauma. If your emotions have been feeling bigger and harder to manage than usual, or you're having thoughts of hurting yourself, I want you to know there's a structured, evidence-based path forward. I'll walk it with you at a pace that feels manageable, with real skills you can use between sessions, not just in them.
I'm Dr. Olivia Shaffer, a psychologist candidate working with teens and adults, including college students. I specialize in treating OCD, trauma, eating disorders, depression, and anxiety. I know how disruptive intrusive thoughts, difficult past experiences, or a complicated relationship with food and body image can be, especially while you're also trying to keep up with classes, relationships, and everything else college throws at you. I take an evidence-based, collaborative approach and want therapy to feel like a place where you're genuinely understood, not just diagnosed.
