While active listening is an important skill for a therapist, listening can only go so far. Our practice belief is that we actually help you help yourself make the necessary changes in your life by giving you techniques, tools, skills, and guidance to achieve your goals. You'll almost always walk out of a session with a new technique or two that you can go home and start using immediately. Our practice has highly trained therapists, are personable, and we're ready to give you the skills and techniques you need to create change. While any given technique doesn't work for everyone and most people need a plethora of techniques, we'll be sure to give you the techniques and tools that we think are most appropriate for you every time you are here.

Whether you're living with depression, anger, problems with motivation or difficulties handling mood swings, I have experience and ideas and a non-judgmental approach to your situation. I'm a straightforward person so I may challenge you if I think that will help you. I can also help you think from a different perspective which in turn can lead to you experiencing different emotions. I have a good critical ear and I can ask you the questions you need to hear in order to feel comfortable with the decisions you want to make. Sometimes I just listen. I also specialize in Dialectical Behavior Therapy. DBT helps people gain control of problem emotions like anxiety and anger. It teaches skills to tolerate Distress and make it through the night when things seem unbearable. DBT also helps individuals learn to say "no" and set limits without feeling guilty. At The OCD & Anxiety Center, we are experienced in working with people of all ages whose anxiety has taken over their lives. Many of our patients have been to several treatment providers but have not achieved the desired results; some believe that their anxiety is "the worst case that anyone has seen" and are afraid that they cannot be helped; some are experiencing anxiety-related problems for the first time in their lives. Regardless of your experience, our passionate and skilled team of therapists are excited to provide you with the help that you need and deserve in order to gain mastery over your OCD, anxiety, phobias, and trauma. The idea of meeting with a therapist once every week is common, and this approach can be helpful for many. But for some individuals, symptoms are so severe that a higher "dose" of treatment is needed. We involve families, spouses, and other support people/systems. Our objective is to provide the skills that you need to face your fear and take back your life. We are skilled at providing effective evidence-based treatments. We will help you identify problematic patterns in your life and work with you to create an individualized treatment plan that will help you change these patterns by facing them head on. We treat anxiety wherever it presents itself. Bottom line: If anxiety is there, so are we!

I work with college students and young adults who are often doing “okay” on the outside but feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck on the inside. You might be juggling academic pressure, high expectations, or big life changes and finding that your mind won’t slow down or that self-doubt is always in the background. Therapy with me is calm and collaborative. We take time to understand what you’re dealing with and find ways to cope that actually feel realistic for you. I often work with students who struggle with perfectionism, overthinking, body image concerns, or a difficult relationship with food. I offer virtual therapy for students located in Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina, which can be especially helpful if you’re attending college away from home and want consistent support. My goal is to help you feel steadier, more supported, and less alone as you navigate college and the transitions that come with it.
Hi, I'm Marilyn. Reaching out for help is often intimidating, especially if you're unsure where to begin. Everyone’s process in therapy will look different, and I’m eager to work with you to discover what that will be. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is most important in this process, and I understand the need to find a good fit. Whether it’s depression, anxiety, stress related to classes, significant life transitions, relationship issues, etc., I will walk with you along your path to healing. Therapy can be a tool to increase self-compassion, understand our emotions, improve relationships, and offer healing. I work with individuals and couples. We all have narratives that guide our lives. Sometimes we get stuck in a narrative that is no longer effective, or we have a difficult time making sense of our experiences. Talking with someone from an objective point of view can help you make sense of your experiences and find meaning in them. I am also a trauma-informed clinician and trained in EMDR.
