In our "land of the free," experiences of depression, anxiety, stress, and trauma are increasingly common. Many feel weighed down by shame about the past, dread about the future, or disconnection in their relationships. Our culture that demands constant productivity makes it easy to lose sight of meaning and connection. I work with people navigating these challenges, particularly those at the intersections of religious trauma, neurodivergence, and gender & sexual identity. If you're searching for clarity, growth, and connection, I am here to partner with you. My practice is informed by DBT, ACT, psychodynamic theory, and intersectional feminism. I aim to be a fellow explorer and accountability partner. Above all, I am a curious person, and I thrive on finding the joy and (sometimes dark) humor in everyday life. I know that finding a therapist and scrolling through profiles can be stressful or scary. If you're feeling that way, we can start there. In our sessions, no topic is taboo or off the table (try me). Authenticity is never wasted, and I want to meet you in whatever stage you're at, mentally and emotionally. Reach out and let's chat.

Feeling stuck? You’re not alone. Taking the first step toward change can feel overwhelming, but there’s no better time than now to prioritize your well-being. As a licensed and board-certified mental health counselor, I provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space to help you break through the barriers that may be holding you back—often rooted in past painful experiences. Together, we’ll explore how those experiences continue to affect you and work toward healing so you can move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and a renewed sense of self. I view therapy as a collaborative process. We'll work together as a team, and I’ll empower you to use your own voice—both in the counseling space and in your day-to-day life. When appropriate, I also enjoy incorporating pop culture and “geek culture” into sessions, using them as creative therapeutic tools alongside traditional approaches. Clients often describe me as calming, easy to talk to, down to earth, and authentic. I’m currently accepting new clients from all over Georgia and Florida for morning and early afternoon Telehealth sessions. You deserve support on your journey, and I’m here to walk alongside you, every step of the way. Let’s take that first step together - reach out today.

Young adulthood is tough, and I love helping my clients learn how to balance the stress of college with the rest of their life. I have worked with many young adults who struggle with perfectionism or burnout. For specific treatment concerns, I specialize in working with young adults struggling with anxiety, panic attacks, OCD, ADHD/AuDHD, BFRBs (skin picking/hair pulling), and insomnia/sleep optimization. I can help if you're curious if you have a specific diagnosis and want to learn more, or if you're looking to understand yourself better and feel like you have the tools you need to handle whatever life throws your way. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming and experienced in working with these clients. My office is about 5 min from the KSU campus in Kennesaw, and I see clients virtually as well.

My name is Ashley and I am so proud of you for taking the first steps and prioritizing your mental health. Life transitions can be challenging. From navigating your young adulthood, starting college, and transitioning to independent adulthood, to realizing you’re not where you thought you’d be in life. My experience has been with people who have turned to alcohol, drugs, food, or self-injury to cope with various life events. Others have shut down in the form of depression or paralyzing anxiety. In essence, the ways of handling life’s stressors are no longer effective, and in these moments, we need help. I enjoy working with people who have the desire to learn how to better navigate their transitions. The University of South Dakota and the University of Georgia trained me in Person-In-Environment (PIE) theory. Giving me a holistic framework to understand how best to serve clients. It is from this view that I use cognitive behavioral and mindfulness techniques to address a client’s specific issues. For me, the key to a successful working relationship between therapist and client is mutual understanding. You are the expert when it comes to your life story. I can assist by using my perspective and empathizing but only you know how you feel and sometimes words can fail us. I’m a Licensed Master of Social Work (LMSW) located in Athens, Georgia. I have been working in the behavioral health field since 2018. I have worked in mental health inpatient and American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) level 3.5 and 3.7 substance use residential settings. Client issues have included depression, anxiety, school difficulties, eating disorders, grief, and chemical dependence. In my free time, I enjoy visiting dog parks with my partner and my Chihuahua/Shih Tzu mix, Bentley, and reading historical fiction novels.

I believe every one of us is a good person at heart, we are all trying our best and laziness is a myth. You may have a hard time believing that about yourself. You may have been taught (by families or systems) that you are bad, lazy or selfish. You are scared to make decisions or trust your intuition. You want to love yourself the way you love others! I offer a radically different perspective. I think it is possible to love yourself a little bit at a time, take things less personally and create more space in your life for peace.

Being in college while navigating the waves of life can sometimes take it's toll. It can be heavy trying to hold it all together, the grades, the relationships, the pressure to figure out who you are and what you're doing here all at once. If you're the one who looks like you are handling things well on the outside while quietly carrying more than anyone knows, you're in the right place. At Sacred Ease Therapy, I work with caretakers, and deep feelers who are navigating anxiety, depression, burnout, chronic illness and the kind of transitions that don't come with a roadmap. My approach is relational, whole-person, and grounded in the belief that rest and connection aren't rewards you earn after you've done enough and they're things you deserve right now. Therapy here isn't about fixing what's wrong with you. It's about making space for who you already are and who you're becoming. I offer virtual sessions across Georgia, which means you can access support from wherever you are. Sliding scale and reduced-fee options are available.

I enjoy helping others reach their goals using a personable, down-to-earth, and collaborative approach. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing clients succeed in reaching or exceeding their goals. My specialties include stress, anxiety, relationships, motivation, focus, and confidence/assertiveness. Holistic in scope, my approach takes into consideration the many facets of you as an individual, including one's physical health, interpersonal relationships, and spirituality (if desired). Having taught mindfulness now for over 20 years, I enjoy incorporating these skills, helping my clients to be more present and relaxed daily. I work collaboratively with clients helping them to skillfully move toward the change they are seeking and ultimately gain more personal freedom and resiliency in the face of life’s varied challenges. In addition to being a therapist, I am a Certified Integrative Mental Health Professional. This helps me to educate my clients on how diet, exercise, and lifestyle affect mental health. You don't have to keep holding it all together-going through the motions on your own, guessing what normal is, not knowing anything better. You're working hard to build a life that looks good on paper-education, career, independence, maybe even a relationship or side hustle. But, underneath the surface, you're exhausted. The anxiety won't let up. Your inner critic never takes a day off. And, no matter how much you achieve, it never feels like enough. If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from who you really are, you're in the right place. I work with women and LGBTQ+ individuals who are ready to understand the why behind their patterns and start healing at the root. Together, we'll create a space where your story is heard, your pain is validated, and your healing becomes possible. You might find yourself: -Overthinking every decision and replaying conversations in your head -Struggling with low self-esteem, perfectionism, or people pleasing -Feeling anxious in your relationships, yet afraid to be truly seen -Living with persistent sadness, numbness, or self-doubt -Wondering if what happened in your past is still affecting your present If this resonates, therapy can help. I offer individual counseling to support you in: -Understanding how childhood trauma has shaped your beliefs and behaviors -Learning to soothe your nervous system and respond versus react -Setting boundaries without guilt -Building emotional resilience and self worth -Exploring your identity outside of old roles and expectations It's okay to ask for help. You're not supposed to do this alone. Starting therapy can feel intimidating, especially if you're used to being the strong one. But, healing doesn't mean falling apart-it means letting yourself grow into someone who feels whole. Here's how to begin: 1. Schedule a free consultation - A 15-minute phone call to see if we're a good fit. 2. Start therapy - We'll meet weekly (in person or virtually) to explore your story and begin the work of healing. 3. Reclaim your life - Bit by bit, you'll begin to feel more grounded, self-compassionate, and connected to who you truly are. If you have questions at any point, you're welcome to reach out. I'm here to support you in taking this first step.

Life is happening to us all, and learning how to adjust to our everyday life is work we all have to do. Let me be your guide! Our time together is spent engaging in conversation with you, educating you on tools and techniques to help you achieve your personal goals, and empowering you to do the necessary work for your growth. I prioritize the unique experience and perspectives of each client. By creating a safe and supportive environment, we take a solution-focused approach which can be effective for many individuals, as it emphasizes finding a practical solution and setting achievable goals rather than solely delving into past issues. Life can present challenges that feel overwhelming, and it's completely normal to seek support during difficult times. I understand that taking the first step toward therapy can be daunting, but please know that you are not alone. I look forward to being your guide, helping you navigate your journey toward healing and growth.
