Therapists for college students near Indianapolis, IN
Hi, I am Patricia (Patty) Thorn Kish, with Harmony Counseling Center, LLC. My practice is on the city bus line in Lafayette, IN, just minutes from Purdue's campus. I can see clients virtually throughout the state of Indiana. But I offer in-person or virtual sessions. My treatment focus is working with adults and students who are suffering from anxiety, depression, grief/loss, stress management, and academic, family, and social issues. Please feel free to visit my website to learn more. I prefer e-mail over phone contact. Our clients book their appointments through our website, www.harmonycounselingcenter.com. Self-Pay rates: $175. However, with insurance, the cost is often significantly lower, and we file the sessions with your insurance for you if we are in your network. We will also provide the proper forms for you to file if we are out of network. We offer weekend availability, as well as morning, afternoon, and evening appointments during the week.
My private practice sees patients of all ages but I specialize in women and most of my current clients are young adults or early teens. Having teenagers of my own, and one college student, gives me a perspective that I feel is helpful not only as a therapist but as a mother. I feel all students need a safe space to share private information that is kept confidential especially since privacy is often difficult in a college setting.

Hi, I’m Christina Cornejo, LCSW. I’ve been providing therapy for about eight years, and my passion lies in supporting young adults who are navigating the overwhelming transition into adulthood. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, or even unsure, my goal is to help you feel more grounded and confident in who you are becoming. I believe in meeting you where you are offering a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you can be honest, feel heard, and grow at your own pace. Therapy isn’t about having it all figured out; it’s about having someone walk with you as you discover your path. My practice focuses on breaking intergenerational patterns, strengthening communication, and untangling the internal conflicts that arise when you’re stepping from teens to adulthood, or into a new life transition such as a school, relationship, and/or job. Let's work on discovering yourself. I understand the pressure that can come from school, family expectations, and trying to figure out who you are in a world that doesn’t always reflect your experience. My passion is helping you recognize and unlearn harmful patterns so you can start to redefine yourself on your own terms.

As a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) and Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), I specialize in providing highly tailored therapeutic support and executive functioning coaching exclusively to college students at Indiana University and around the country. I understand that guiding a young adult through the collegiate transition from afar can be incredibly stressful for families. My practice is deliberately structured to help students build resilience, while providing out-of-town parents with comprehensive advisory support and absolute peace of mind. Whether your student is navigating anxiety, depression, substance use, or a deficit in motivation and executive functioning, my goal is to deliver proactive, highly structured intervention. Through our bespoke consulting packages, we ensure students thrive both academically and personally, without falling through the cracks of large university systems. Specialized Therapeutic & Executive Function Support I provide focused, high-touch support tailored to the unique academic and personal demands of the college years, including: Executive Functioning & Motivation: Installing robust weekly schedules, study rules, and workflows to combat paralysis and build self-driven habits. Targeted Mental Health Care: Private therapeutic support for college-specific challenges, including anxiety, depression, and substance use. Academic Monitoring: Ongoing oversight, accountability check-ins, and early-warning risk detection to catch issues before they escalate into academic crises. Parent Advisory & Coaching: Direct guidance on establishing healthy boundaries, utilizing our Parent Oversight Framework, and navigating complex family dynamics. Why Families Choose Our Practice Bespoke Support Tiers: From targeted Individual Counseling, theSemester Launch setups or my 12-month Semester Concierge engagements, we provide the exact level of intervention your family requires. Executive-Level Advisory: We act as a "family office" for your students well-being, providing parents with regular status briefs and clear guidance on what to monitor versus what to ignore. Proactive Risk Containment: We do not wait for a crisis. We install systems, monitor academic progress, and coordinate a proactive strategy to ensure consistency and long-term independence. Recognized Authority: As the author of The Insiders Guide to Parenting and The Insider's Guide to College, and host of The Better Semester podcast, my frameworks are grounded in nearly 25 years of specialized clinical experience. Background & Expertise With a Master's degree in Community Counseling and extensive clinical training, I have dedicated my career to collegiate mental health. My approach combines evidence-based therapeutic practices with strategic, high-level advisory. You may look capable and successful on the outside, but inside, you feel overwhelmed, exhausted, anxious, or unsure of yourself. Many of the students I work best with are used to setting high expectations for themselves. You may put pressure on yourself to succeed, struggle with perfectionism, or feel like you are falling behind even when others think you are doing well. I also enjoy working with international students and students navigating different cultures. You may be balancing school with family expectations, relationships, questions about who you are and where you belong, or the stress of adapting to life away from home. Past difficult experiences may also be affecting how you feel and respond to stress today. In our work together, you do not have to have everything figured out. We can slow things down, understand what is happening beneath the surface, and find practical ways to manage difficult emotions and everyday stress. My goal is to help you feel more grounded, understand yourself more deeply, and approach your life and relationships with greater confidence and choice.
