Therapists for college students near Boston College
I am a psychotherapist in private practice in Manhattan. After finishing a Masters of Social Work at the University of Pennsylvania, I completed a four year post-graduate program at the William Alanson White Institute, a psychoanalytic institute in New York City. In my practice, I work with people who are experiencing a variety of concerns, including depression, anxiety and relationship difficulties. I also work with individuals who are interested in improving their understanding of themselves or an aspect of their lives, or who want to be better able to make choices that lead to a sense of fulfillment. My goal is to provide a warm and collaborative relationship in which these topics can be explored. I believe that a successful therapeutic relationship is based on trust and can help bring about growth and change. I offer clinical supervision to psychotherapists in private practice and as part of the William Alanson White Institute's Intensive Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Training Program. I am also an Associate Editor for the academic journal Contemporary Psychoanalysis.

Hi and welcome! My name is Rhonda Matlack and I have been a Licensed Counselor since 1998. Counseling historically has been something that society has been ashamed of hence many people have suffered needlessly due to lack of support. I'm here to tell you that seeking support and moving toward emotional wellness is deserving of every individual from any walk of life. It is my philosophy that those who reach out for heIp, those that take the risk to be better, those that face their fears will have a sustainable life pattern of coping that leads to wellness. We are all made unique, each one of us is made to serve and benefit in this life with a purpose. Last, I believe healthcare should be made affordable to all, therefore I have a very low sliding scale to offer folks. Get in touch to learn more.

It's wonderful you're taking the step to care for your mental health! I have a heart for college and graduate students and understand the unique stressors of university life, such as academic pressure, social anxieties, and the transition to independence. I am also passionate about helping individuals explore how their cultural and ethnic identities and upbringing interplay with their mental well-being, including the experiences related to cultural identity and navigating multiple cultural spaces. My background as a teacher, HR professional, writer, wife, mother, and therapist has broadened my empathy and understanding of diverse experiences. I graduated with a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling from Northwestern University and am trained in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), a well-researched method for trauma. I offer a collaborative therapeutic approach, and utilize many researched methods tailored to your individual needs. I understand that family history and early relationships can significantly impact mental health, so I often begin by exploring these areas. Together, we'll create a plan to achieve your goals. I enjoy working with adults of all ages, but I have a special fondness of college and graduate students during this unique time of exploration and adjustment. Please reach out, and let's figure things out together!
A working machine is comprised of many cogs and gears that must interlock seamlessly in order to function. Our minds are not all that different. One faulty belief can throw our whole center off balance. That is why counseling can be beneficial. Gaining a new perspective is the same as getting a realignment. Counseling can be a life-altering journey as it offers a judgement-free atmosphere to explore our deepest fears, sorrows, and triumphs. The sharing of these experiences can open our minds up to new ideas and perspectives that we may be struggle to uncover on our own. Stephanie Hunt is a licensed mental health counselor practicing in the commonwealth of Massachusetts. I am a licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with a deep commitment to helping individuals and families navigate their challenges. I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology at Worcester State University, where I also minored in Sociology and focused on mental health and women's studies. Following that, I earned a Master's in Forensic and Investigative Psychology from the University of Liverpool. From the very beginning of my career, I discovered my passion for working with families and children. I believe in creating warm and supportive environments where everyone feels safe and valued. This dedication inspired me to pursue a Master's in Social Work from Anna Maria College, allowing me to better serve the community that is close to my heart. I have had the privilege to work across various settings, including residential care, intensive in-home support, schools, and outpatient services, which has enriched my understanding of the diverse needs of families and children. In my sessions, I strive to foster a nurturing and compassionate space where clients can feel understood and empowered to pursue their goals. I use a strength-based approach, offering encouragement and support to help clients along their journey. I believe it is essential for clients to be at the heart of the treatment process, actively participating in setting their own goals. This ensures that their voices are not only heard but truly valued in every session. Together, we can embark on a transformative journey towards healing and personal growth. Clients can expect that they will be heard and respected in sessions, and that their goals and dreams are a priority. Through this process, they will be validated and supported in helping them reach their full potential.
Hi, I help young adults manage their mental health medications via telehealth, and provide education about balancing medication use with a healthy lifestyle. Medication is not a quick-fix, or an all encompassing solution, but it can help! Unfortunately, because we are currently telehealth only, we are not prescribing stimulants (for ADHD treatment or narcolepsy) to new patients. We can continue existing prescriptions if patient has a PCP that they see yearly. Please contact me or sign up for a new patient appointment on my website if you feel that our practice might be right for you.

I have over 25 years experience working with teenagers and adults. I understand the social, behavioral, and academic challenges clients face, not only with the pandemic, but with social media, peer pressure, self-esteem, eating disorders, relationships, decision making, substance use, suicidal thoughts, and self-harm. I provide cognitive behavior therapy, which is to help clients understand why they are thinking and behaving the way they are and to help them understand that in order to change for the long term, they need to first understand what is causing the problem. I help clients develop coping skills and self-care strategies for in the moment and every day use.

Sometimes the stress associated with being in school, learning who you are, developing relationships, and generally navigating college life can lead to feelings and experiences that are very difficult to navigate alone. Even the adjustment to college can be very challenging, and sometimes old patterns that you thought you left behind can start revealing themselves again. Perhaps new patterns are concerning you. It's okay to reach out for help. Feeling better is truly possible, even when it feels like it might not be, or that you don't really need help. You don’t have to live in pain, pretend that it’s all okay, or manage alone. Together we can find a way to more ease, love, understanding, and acceptance. The journey to self-love, healing and wholeness is full of discovery, and requires a trusting, therapeutic relationship. Finding a skilled therapist, who is a good fit for you is essential. If you think I might be a good fit for you, let's connect.
I work with Students at all leveles and my approach is both flexible and eclectic. I often use Brief Intermittent Therapy. I find that it works best for people to come in for a defined brief period of time (such as 6-8 weeks) and focus on one specific area that needs attention; the time in therapy is more concentrated and effective. When the need arises, I welcome clients back for a "tune up." My clinical work with students and families began in the early 1990’s. Much of my career has centered on helping kids in school settings. I also work with teachers and staff. I have successfully supported clients during times of crisis, transition, and struggle. I can help with anxiety, depression, peers, LGBTQ+ issues, and post-concussion support. I invite you to reach out and see if we would work well together. I am equally comfortable working via teletherapy or in-person therapy. My office is located in Harwich Center on Cape Cod. I'm happy to discuss what works best for you. I am here to support students coping with stress, anxiety, depression, executive functioning concerns, and life adjustments as they navigate their academics, any relationship challenges with family, friends, or intimate partners and overall life adjustments. I also am trained in working with the Perinatal population. It is an honor to support supports as they work on their goals for their future!
College is a challenge, on its own, in many ways. It can cause significant stress as well as trigger new or exacerbate existing mental health symptoms. Having space to work through the stress or symptoms you are experiencing can be incredibly beneficial (e.g. reduced stress, increased happiness, decrease in symptoms and/or severity, etc.), which can contribute to greater success and a greater overall experience during these years. I believe in creating a safe, supportive, nonjudgmental, and confidential therapy space that respects all identities and backgrounds where people can feel free to be their most authentic selves. I strive for people to feel comfortable in letting go of filters that tend to restrict them in honest disclosure and deep processing of their experiences. Thank you for taking the time to read about the practice and considering Sage Serenity Counseling. Please reach out if you have questions or would like to get started. I am ready to support you whenever you are ready!
