Welcome to my page! My name is Liz and I specialize in working with young adults who are looking to find peace and tranquility in their lives. I build my practice on the foundation that everyone deserves to find happiness and I approach my work with empathy, a sense of humor and a warm-hearted demeanor. Through my work, I've seen the incredible potential that young people possess, and my goal is to explore strategies that will empower you to make lasting changes that promote personal growth. I feel strongly that in a safe and nurturing environment, you can thrive. My role is to assist you in developing the necessary skills and coping mechanisms to navigate life's challenges such as anxiety, depression, familial and relationship issues, as well as stress. Together, we can strengthen your relationships, improve communication, and foster personal growth. Well navigate the challenges and overwhelm to make your journey more manageable. I'm really excited to work collaboratively with you and I look forward to connecting with you soon!
I believe a therapist's job is to help people get "unstuck." All behavior serves a purpose. Even the most painful or confusing patterns often began as ways to cope with overwhelming circumstances. In therapy, we'll explore these parts of yourself and work to deepen self-awareness. Over time, you will come to recognize that while your emotional responses once made perfect sense, they may no longer serve you in the same way. Therapy is not about erasing or lingering in the past, but about making meaning from it. At the heart of my work is a belief in the healing power of feeling truly seen, heard, and understood. Together, we’ll turn inward with curiosity and compassion so you can move through the world with greater clarity, coherence, and connection.
I'm passionate about working with college students, especially international students, students of color, and first-generation students. These students are often interested in exploring their identities and navigating life transitions. They may also be looking for support with academic stress and how to live according to their values. I have previous experience working in a college counseling setting, and I'm eager to connect with students who are seeking support. I am psychodynamically trained and have focused much of my learning and clinical practice within a social justice framework. Before moving to the US, I lived and studied in China, Hong Kong, and Singapore. Therefore, both Eastern and Western philosophies and values influence and inform my perspectives and the integrative approaches that I bring to my work.
I am a clinical psychologist who specializes in adolescence and young adulthood. I completed a fellowship at Mclean Hospital in Adolescent Mental Health. I was previously a psychologist at Mclean Hospital's Klarman Eating Disorders Center where I specialized in the care of individuals struggling with eating disorders, anxiety, depression, and associated concerns. I enjoy working collaboratively with a client, couple, or family to understand how someone's struggles relate to their larger goals, hopes, and motivations and how to work to understand their experiences together and move closer to those goals. I use approaches to therapy that focus on understanding the role and functions of emotions and behaviors, understanding someone's experience in the context of relationships, and utilizing strengths and competencies in the therapy process. In addition to individual therapy, I have a passion for working with couples, families, and in relationship based therapies. I also provide parent consultation for parents supporting their child or adult child through an eating disorder. Please reach out if you have any questions and would like to schedule a complementary initial phone consultation.
