Therapists for college students near University of Minnesota
My practice strives to create an environment where you can express yourself without fear of judgement. The goal is to understand your experience and work to see things in a new light in order to bring a renewed sense of hope. Establishing a strong toolbox of coping skills along with raised awareness of what brought you into therapy can bring a stronger sense of empowerment for positive change. I believe everyone has the ability to navigate what life throws at us and make meaning from those challenges. "Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations. The best is yet to come.” ― Zig Ziglar
Hello! We're Dennis, Maddy, Korey, and Matt. We believe that while life is hard, every human being has the potential to surmount stress and strain. Whether you're experiencing burnout, depression, anxiety, chronic pain, chronic illness, cancer, trauma, relationships issues, professional issues, or other concerns, our goal is to help you find meaning, self-respect, growth, and resilience. We're passionate about helping you increase your ability to weather and recover from difficult moments in the future. We'll do this by leveraging your strengths and building your coping skills to help you manage stress and create a life you want to live. Our approach stems from the belief that all humans have innate value and worth, and that all behaviors meet a need. We’ll work with you to examine the bio-psycho-social factors that influence your overall wellness, and we'll use empathy, authenticity, a non-judgmental stance and science-driven interventions to unlock and harness your internal resilience. Therapy can be a confusing and scary endeavor, and we take seriously the fact that you're putting your trust in us. Our therapists are happy to speak with you to address any questions about our services and to get to know each other more. We invite you to visit us at www.cpgrpsych.com to learn more about us and our practice.
We provide a safe space for you to learn ways to comfortably understand your thoughts and your feelings.
I meet clients where they are at by building upon existing strengths and providing a nonjudgmental space for self-exploration and growth. I value honesty, empathy, curiosity, and humor in my practice. The foundation of my work uses person-centered and relational therapy techniques. I may pull from psychodynamic, solution-focused, or narrative therapy. My therapeutic approach is for those looking for support, self-reflection, alternate perspectives, and accountability. I enjoy working with adolescents and adults for individual therapy. I have experience working with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship dynamics, life transitions, and confidence. I believe authentic conversations about identity, including exploration of sexuality, gender, race, and class are an important part of our therapeutic work together.

Have you had a recent "awakening" in your life? You’re not alone. You’re seeking to better understand yourself? Perhaps your feelings have felt more intense: anxiety, depression, confusion, or desire to find purpose to life is weighing on your heart. You look around - seeking answers, understanding, & deeper healing. Maybe a life situation unfolded and you were suddenly on a path you never imagined (job loss, divorce, new college, etc). If this is you, I can support you. I approach all my clients with the understanding that we are mind, body, & spirit. I have worked with clients over 2 decades and accumulated experiences that have made me an expert at supporting young adults on their journey. You are in an important phase of life that involves a lot of changes, which are stressful when faced alone. If you're ready to receive some support, I'm here to walk alongside you and support you as you learn and grow! Send me an email or call me today.
My clients are often either grieving, caring for a parent or spouse, or experiencing their own chronic or terminal illness. Many of my clients are adult children caring for an aging parent.
Are you a sensitive soul who feels like no one really understands you? I use an authentic approach in my practice, allowing you to feel heard and seen by someone who wants to get you. I specialize in grief, life transitions, and codependency. I have years of experience in academic counseling, so I also love to help students who are struggling to feel caught up in school and adjust to all the changes that come with college. In my personal life, I love to study tarot and astrology. I'm happy to talk about that in our work together if you like that too!
I know how hard it can be to admit that something isn’t working anymore, and I don’t take lightly the courage it takes to look inward. Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, capable people who appear to be holding it all together, while feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, or unsure of who they are becoming in this season of life. I work with individuals who are navigating life transitions, grief/loss, caregiving roles, chronic illness or health-related stress, and those that are in the quiet in-between moments where things just feel heavy or unclear. Therapy with me is a place where you don’t have to have the “right” words, a clear goal, or a polished story. You don’t have to perform or justify your feelings to be understood. My style is warm, conversational, and collaborative. I ask thoughtful questions, offer genuine validation, and help you make sense of what is happening beneath the surface. Sometimes that looks like building practical skills you can use right away; other times it means slowing down and creating space for insight, grief, or clarity to appear. Bodywork and somatic healing are welcome here. Humor is welcome here too, because healing can be meaningful AND human. I often think of my role as walking alongside you: part steady guide, part enthusiastic supporter as you find your way forward. We will focus on what matters most to you, honoring your values, strengths, and lived experience rather than trying to “fix” or pathologize you. I strive to create a space that feels grounding, safe, and real. One where you can show up as you are and feel supported. If you’re feeling hesitant but curious, unsure but hopeful, you’re already doing something brave. You don’t have to do the rest alone.
I work closely with female clients who are struggling with relationship concerns, anxiety, depression, and childhood trauma. I currently have same week openings.

Hi, I’m a therapy intern at Lotus Counseling Center and I’m finishing my Master’s at Saint Mary’s University. Hello and welcome to the beginning of your healing journey! My name is Neko and I joined this field because I believe that life is a journey where invitations to heal, grow and prosper are constantly received. I received my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Bethel Seminary. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Minnesota. I am trained to view life difficulties through a systemic-trauma lens and I use that lens to work alongside those struggling with difficulties in life. I primarily use modalities that revolve around ones natural psychological parts and somatic sensations and experiences. I have a deep passion for everyone to know that they have value; no matter where they are or where they have been - they hold intrinsic value. I want each person to know they are capable of healing and transformation no matter what choices they have made or despite what life has thrown at them. I have been working alongside individuals for over a decade through my time as a staff at Bethel University, Camp Forest Springs, Hammer Residences, Wellstone Elementary and a Intensive Treatment to Foster Care program through Family Innovations. When I am not sitting with clients, you will find me reading a good book, up north, outdoors, relaxing with my wife, daughter and dog exploring Disney World.
Life comes with its own unique challenges and triumphs. Often during the challenging parts, we can find ourselves feeling stuck. Sometimes the reasons are obvious. Other times, not so much. As a therapist, I take pride in providing a safe, non-judgmental space to explore these more vulnerable parts of life. In my work with teens and adults, I take a client-centered approach while drawing from psychodynamic principles. I aim to build an authentic relationship with you as we explore different aspects of your life. This allows us to identify patterns and themes while setting goals that are meaningful to you. When working together, your autonomy is of the utmost importance to me. I value your collaboration in order to work at your own pace. Throughout my training and professional experience, I worked in various settings including schools, hospitals, the child welfare system, and private practice. These experiences have prepared me to work confidently with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, identity-related issues, life transitions, and relational wounds.
I’m Kimberly, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) — and founder of ZOLA Mental Health. At ZOLA, I believe therapy should feel like a genuine, supportive space — a place where you can be yourself without fear of judgment. My goal is to help people from all backgrounds untangle the stress, pain, or uncertainty you’ve been carrying and find clarity, confidence, and calm. I work with individuals who are experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, or big life transitions. My approach combines warmth, compassion, and evidence-based strategies like Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy and mindfulness. I focus on the whole person — your mind, emotions, relationships, and routines — because real change happens when we address every part of what makes you, you.

Everyone’s mental health journey looks and feels different. Like you, I’ve had my own journey. This means you can trust me when I say that I know it is hard. I know that it can be scary and I know that you need to feel safe in this process. I am here to walk next to you, to cheer you on and sometimes to help pick you up when you fall. I am honored that my job allows me to help others on their journey and it is a responsibility that I take very seriously. I enjoy working with adolescents, adults and couples. I work with my clients to treat depression, anxiety and trauma. I also work with clients to process issues related to divorce, parenting, relationship concerns, life changes and the challenges that come with having a family member in the military or law enforcement. My experience treating PTSD includes working in a partial hospitalization program and being certified in Prolonged Exposure Therapy. I believe that it is important that my clients feel I am a good fit for them both in my treatment approach and in personality, that is why I offer a free 20 minute consultation before starting therapy.
