Hello, and welcome! I am glad you’re here. My name is Madz (she/they). I am a white, able bodied, queer person. I truly believe there is bravery in slowing down with someone else and beginning to consider that your pain could use another heart to hold it. In our work together, I hope to help empower you to build a curious and understanding relationship with the distressed, normal, and brilliant parts of you that have been managing your suffering within the context of relationship challenges, family of origin difficulties, systemic injustice, and isms. Equally as important, I hope to support you in connecting with and caring for your younger self that might still be holding the burdens of past trauma. I deeply value working to offer folks a new relationship in therapy. One where collaborative planning with your nervous system will help to support us in centering a reparative experience. My approach is warm, compassionate, and curious. As someone who has struggled with knowing where myself and another ends and begins, I prioritize highlighting all that you already know about yourself and will support you in noticing and listening to your own voice. I draw from Internal Family Systems, Narrative Therapy, Emotionally Focused, Psychodynamic, Polyvagal, Intercultural Counseling, and Somatic Interventions. I have historically worked with trauma survivors, LGBTQ/Queer identified folks, folks with challenging family of origin relationships, and relationship issues.

Hello! I’m Jackie, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (which is just a fancy way of saying therapist). I’ve been serving teens and adults as a mental health therapist for the past ten years in (and around) Portland, Oregon. I worked for 5 years at a community college as a counselor and taught various courses such as college success and career exploration and understand the variety of challenges college students face with mental health, relationships, finding their path in life and more. My passion has always been in helping people through their life transitions, anxiety, depression, trauma and other life challenges. I am excited to share that I am EMDR trained and hold a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training certificate and hope to incorporate those tools into therapy. Making the decision to start therapy isn't always easy, particularly when you feel exhausted, overwhelmed and even hopeless. But, I assure you I will do my best to meet you with compassion and provide a safe space for you to talk openly and feel understood. I invite you to contact me to schedule a free 15-minute consultation to ask any questions you have and to discuss your therapy goals. I look forward to hearing from you soon!
I have experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and older adults from diverse backgrounds, including neurodiverse youth. Across these populations, I have seen common experiences of challenge, resilience, and growth. As a college graduate who changed majors and faced setbacks along the way, I understand the need to regroup, persist, and try again—an experience strengthened by the support of a strong social network. I invite you to connect, and I would be honored to walk alongside you, offering professional support as you navigate your own path forward.
My work is to support you in realizing your most authentic, integrated self. I offer holistic, mindful somatic psychotherapy (Hakomi method), to create deep and lasting growth and change. In our work together we'll turn towards your physical sensations and emotions, for the sake of the information, and to allow integration and wholeness, and a future that does not look like your past. A respect for the intelligence of nature, Jungian archetypes, Eastern Philosophies (having spent 20 years as an acupuncturist), and a love for writing and creative practices is woven into my work. I love supporting women in life change. Relationship loss and grief, career shift or desire to shift, perimenopause, empty-nest, or partnering - these are times ripe for discovery and exploration. Therapy can support your evolution - find deeper connection with yourself and others, heal unresolved hurts, embody your strengths, develop a stronger identity and self-worth, and discover direction or post-traumatic growth. Anxiety, depression, issues of self-worth and relational issues - through this process of witnessed self-reflection, you'll develop greater insight, capacity to interrupt self-defeating patterns, and opportunity to create more aligned choices and preferred experiences in your life. I am a licensed psychologist with a private practice, Blume Therapy, LLC, in Portland, Oregon. I have worked at multiple universities and college counseling centers, both as a therapist and as an educator, and I am passionate about working with young adults at this extraordinary time of life. There are many reasons that people seek therapy. No matter the specific reason, you are probably here because you are struggling with something that matters to you a great deal. I have training and experience in treating anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties (family, peer), trauma, grief and loss, academic stress, issues related to identity, chronic illness and chronic pain, and dissatisfaction with one’s life and oneself. In all of the work that I do, I strive to provide culturally-oriented care and am committed to my own professional training and growth in regards to systems of oppression and social justice. My goal is to offer affirming work with individuals of diverse racial, cultural, sexual and gender identities. In therapy, my work is emotion-focused, trauma-informed, strengths-based and attentive to interpersonal processes. My style is compassionate, collaborative, curious and warm. I believe that having a strong connection with your therapist is the foundation of successful work. I also believe that understanding how our past experiences and early relationships impact us in the present is an important part of lasting change. I have a personal interest in mindfulness, and this influences my work. In all of the work that I do, I strive to provide culturally-oriented care, where the many intersections of your identity are at the heart of understanding who you are and the strengths you possess.
My clients are often women (but not always) seeking clarity and support around their current life situations, changes, and challenges - Maybe it's trying to work on their self-esteem, while balancing work and/or their studies and social and interpersonal relationships. Maybe it's processing loss/grief/change - including an influential person, a job, a move to a new city, a role in life (parenting). We can identify and practice shame resilience skills. We go through change all the time, and you don't have to be alone with it. My approach is described as active and supportive. I work with clients to address current issues and long-standing challenges. Applying sensitivity, empathy, and compassion, I help individuals bring resolution to a wide range of life challenges and clinical psychological issues. I have also worked in the addictions arena for 17+ years and have experience in alcohol and other substance addiction work. As well as some experience in working with compulsive behaviors such as gambling, shopping, and internet usage.
Are you feeling stuck or dissatisfied with life? Have you felt trapped in cycles of self-doubt, sadness, worry, frustration, and stress? Do you feel disconnected from others or yourself? My work involves supporting you in connecting to your internal experience so you can make sense of where you are, where you've been, and where you dream of going. My approach involves connecting you to your intuition and inner wisdom through mindfulness-based practices. My hope is to align you with what matters to you so you can take steps toward a life of enhanced meaning and purpose.
I work with folks who want to connect with their emotional worlds and nurture relationships both with themselves and others. As a cis-gender male, I have often had the thought that it seems like everyone else got the guide-book to relationships except me. I, like many of you, am someone who was raised as in a context that did not prize or promote emotional self-inquiry, self-connection and direct communication. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, anger, shame or dissatisfaction with your life, there is space for you here. I practice mindfulness-based therapy, which means that in our work together I may invite you to pause or slow down so that we can bring curiosity to your inner world. Your experience is important and, if we work together, I commit to walking along side you in what is an act of courage not acknowledged enough: reconnecting with and honoring ourselves. Perhaps you are longing for a more satisfying way of existing in this world. Not to fret, this has been the case for many of us and the path back home to an aligned state of being has been tread by many before you. I have helped many like you and would be delighted to explore working together.
I work with people in transition or who are preparing for change. Artists, actors and writers. Those in bereavement. Or who are living with a catastrophic health-related diagnosis, recent or of long duration. Caregivers. Mental health interns who need to explore their own issues in order to practice mindfully. Folks who are using substances more than they want. People who want to decrease their distress but who also have a curiosity about its sources. People who want to talk with someone about the most important thing in the world, perhaps to discover what that is. My specialty is the intuitive analysis of what is most important to you. My experience has shown me that we carry within us the answers we're looking for. My skill is in eliciting these answers and reflecting them back to you so you recognize them. I've been trained in Depth psychology, Narrative psychology and Cognitive Behavior therapy, in dream analysis and evidence-based practices like Seeking Safety. In addition to private practice I've directed multiple community mental health and recovery programs, as well as provided training and clinical supervision to new therapists.

I specialize in helping young adults who are detransitioning or desisting, or otherwise struggling with the current culture of identity politics and groupthink on college campuses. If you value nuance over black-and-white thinking, and would rather see yourself as a strong, resilient person than a perpetual victim of forces outside your control, we might be a match. I respect patients of diverse cultural, religious, and political backgrounds, as well as sexual orientations. Use the link below to book a free discovery call.
