Therapists for college students near Philadelphia, PA
Sometimes life feels overwhelming — stress, anxiety, depression or relationship challenges can leave you feeling stuck and unsure how to move forward. Therapy can help you understand why you feel this way and explore new paths toward change. Often, what seems like the “problem” on the surface is connected to something deeper. Together, we’ll work to uncover and understand these underlying patterns so that meaningful change can happen. I provide a safe, supportive space to explore your experiences and help you create more satisfying relationships and a life that feels aligned with your goals.
Tommy Schoffler, MFA is a graduate intern in his final semester of the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Master’s Program at WV Wesleyan College, where he also serves as a tenured Professor of Theatre. Relationships can be hard. Communication can be challenging. Feeling anxious, uncertain, directionless, or out-of-control can feel overwhelming and at times debilitating. It is so easy to become stuck in a cycle of frustration or hopelessness which creates thought loops fixated on these feelings. It can feel impossible to see what lies beyond the immediate struggles we can’t seem to work through. While most of us feel the need to address these struggles, so few of us have the time or energy to “fix” these stuck points and successfully move past them. That’s where I step in to help. If interested, please send me an email and we'll schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation to see if we're a good fit.
College life can be exciting and rewarding, but it can also bring new pressures, responsibilities, relationships, and challenges that can feel overwhelming. Adjusting to academic demands, navigating friendships and relationships, living away from home, managing expectations, and taking care of your mental health can sometimes feel like a lot to handle. I work with college students experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, mood concerns, trauma-related difficulties, relationship and social challenges, and the emotional stresses that often accompany major life transitions. Sometimes students know exactly what is wrong; other times, they simply know that they don't feel like themselves or that something is making it difficult to function at their best. My approach combines psychiatric medication management with psychotherapy and supportive counseling. I believe treatment should be individualized and collaborative, taking into account not only symptoms, but also the whole person and the circumstances affecting their mental health. Together, we can explore what you are experiencing, identify patterns that may be contributing to your difficulties, and develop practical strategies to help you feel more balanced and in control. I strive to provide a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where students feel comfortable being honest about what they are experiencing. My goal is to help you better understand yourself, feel more grounded, and develop the tools and support you need to navigate college and life with greater confidence.

At times, people just want to have a conversation and we put off going to counseling, because honestly we tell ourselves that this other thing is just a little bit more important, a bit more pressing. We forget to invest in ourselves. Life is tough, there is no doubt about that; but why go through it alone. Let me be that person for you to aid you through those tough times or I can simply be that someone that you talk with. For a free consultation, learn more about my practice, or set up a counseling appointment, please go to www.thelotuscounselor.com or call (610) 699-9475. I specialize in having conversations and I have experience with: grief, stress management, trauma, depression, anxiety, career counseling, adults and youth and more. I believe therapy works best as a safe and supportive partnership. Through a trusted therapeutic relationship, I aim to create a space where you can gain insight into the areas that may be keeping you stuck. I see every client as more than a diagnosis and strive to meet you where you are while guiding you toward meaningful change. I have extensive experience working with adolescents, college students, and young adults facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, relationship struggles, and life transitions. I support clients as they navigate overwhelming emotions and worries, attention and executive functioning challenges, identity exploration, interpersonal struggles, and adapting to adulthood. Together, we’ll set goals that fit your unique needs and work to build insight, healthier patterns, and practical skills that reduce stress and support a more fulfilling life. My approach blends evidence-based therapies—including CBT, DBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, TF-CBT, and Structural Family Therapy—with compassion and care, tailoring strategies to each individual. I welcome feedback on which interventions you find most helpful and adapt sessions to ensure your needs are met. It’s a privilege to do this work, and I look forward to supporting you on your journey.
If life has been feeling stuck, confusing, or overwhelming, let’s slow things down together. I'm here to listen closely to your lived experience and the stories that have shaped it. My work is grounded in narrative therapy, which means we will pay attention to how problems have come to influence your life and how your preferred values and hopes might guide us forward. We'll stay close to what matters most to you, exploring what you want your life to stand for and supporting steps that move you closer to that direction, one conversation at a time. My approach is collaborative, with your voice guiding what feels most important. I ask questions that invite reflection and new possibilities, and I'm transparent about my thinking. If you want therapy that feels human, thoughtful, and respectful of your context, we may be a good fit. If you would like to see whether we fit, reach out through the contact options on this page. You can share a sentence or two about what you want help with, along with any scheduling needs. I'll respond with what I can offer and what next steps could look like.
I specialize in trauma and substance abuse and have experience with a wide-range of issues. I provide office-based counseling, but also provide virtual and mobile services which are helpful for continuing services if you are home from school on break. I am trained in EMDR and DBT which are two effective ways of treating trauma and managing emotions.
If anxiety feels like it’s running your life or your relationship feels stuck in painful patterns, you’re not alone. Many of the individuals and couples I work with feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure how to move forward. I’m Anna Clemente, and I offer a warm, supportive space where we can slow down, understand what’s happening beneath the surface, and build healthier ways of coping and communicating. Many of my clients are thoughtful people who appear to be managing well on the outside but internally feel anxious, stuck, or disconnected. I specialize in anxiety and couples work, using a systemic and relational approach to help clients understand patterns that keep them feeling stuck. With couples, I focus on improving communication, rebuilding trust, and strengthening emotional connection using the Gottman Method and EFT, while integrating CBT and IFS when helpful. Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it’s important to find someone who feels like the right fit. If you’re curious about working together, I’d be happy to connect for a brief consultation to answer any questions and see if it feels like a good match. You’re welcome to reach out by inquiry or text whenever you feel ready.
