I am currently licensed in Michigan, South Carolina, Texas and Pennsylvania, and can see clients virtually in any of these states. I live in Michigan and can see clients in person or virtually in Michigan. My particular focus is on working with young adults and college students. I've worked with people on a variety of issues including unresolved trauma, relationship issues, life transitions, depression and anxiety just to name a few. I strive to create a safe and comfortable environment in which clients feel free to be themselves. I believe that growth and healing begins when people feel seen, accepted, and understood, and so I take the time to get to know you and understand the needs and issues that are unique to you.
You're a woman who grew up without the emotional nurturing you needed by having a distant parent, inconsistent caregiving, or years spent being the strong one. You desired love, but received mental and emotional pain from people you trusted. Now, these early wounds are showing up as anxiety, self-doubt, depression, overthinking, trauma-responses, relationship struggles, low self-esteem, or feeling disconnected and lost. You want peace, clarity, wholeness, and the ability to break generational patterns so you can show up fully, with purpose, and thrive in life as a woman, a partner, a parent, and/or a professional. I help women heal from the impact of childhood emotional wounds using a trauma-informed, faith-integrated approach. I work towards guiding women to rebuild self-trust, regulate emotions, strengthen relationships, and create an inner safety they've always deserved. I provide a therapeutic and transformational frame through individual, couples, and group work. You don't have to keep carrying these wounds alone. Healing is possible. It is time to experience a safe space where your story is honored without judgment. If you're ready for supportive work that helps you to feel whole again, I'd be honored to walk with you on this journey. Let's take the next step together.
I am a ‘Recovering Perfectionist’ that has struggled with anxiety for much of my life. I know how it feels to get stuck in my own head wondering what others think, trying to do everything ‘right’ (whatever that really means), and putting others before myself. I know what it feels like to want to give up and just avoid everything all together. So when we work together, you won’t just get a trained therapist, but also someone who truly understands what you are going through and what it means to find the right balance between challenging yourself and validating your progress to keep you going so you can reach your goals.
Whether you are experiencing depression, anxiety, or seek help to maintain interpersonal relationships, I commit to helping you reach your goals with compassion, and respect. I put people first, and care less about a diagnosis or label. I strive to bring relief no matter your circumstances.

Ever feel like you're always just "catching up" or you're on the "outside" looking in? As an Autistic professional, I love assisting other neurodivergent individuals in navigating a neurotypical world. I offer a judgement-free, solution-oriented space where authenticity is the only agenda and an "eyes wide open" approach that uses precision and depth to uncover what’s hidden. I serve adult clients who may be experiencing identity and worldview transitions, shame and perfectionism, anxiety, as well as grief and depression. My specialty is helping clients succeed in their search for self-trust and direction. Life is a story full of unexpected twists and chapter breaks. It can be easy to lose the plot along the way. I primarily utilize Existential Psychotherapy with aspects of SFBT, emphasizing elements such as meaning-making, authenticity, and personal agency. This makes my approach highly adaptive to your specific journey. I graduated from Texas Woman's University with my master's degree in Counseling and Development and am licensed in the state of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate under the supervision of Billie Baker, LPC-S, and Dr. James Parker, LP. Hello, my name is Kristen Cooper MacDiarmid. I am a licensed professional counselor that works with children, adolescents, and adults. I specialize in anxiety and mood disorders, but I also have extensive experience with school and behavioral issues. In this time of turmoil and change, it is more important than ever to take care of our mental health while maintaining our physical health and well being; therefore, I am now offering telehealth appointments for both play and talk therapy. I believe that everyone has the strength and ability to succeed deep within themselves, even if you can’t see it because of your current situation or mindset. I want to help you find that inner ability, pull from that innate strength, and learn the techniques that will help bring out the best you have within you. Whether through play therapy as a child or talk therapy as an adult, I can help you find techniques that will work for you to help you manage the daily stressors of life, make radical life changes, or to work through trauma. I can work with you to find ways to reframe your thinking and provide noticeable change and help facilitate peace in your life.
Reaching out for therapy can feel like a big step, especially when you're carrying stress, uncertainty, or emotional pain. My goal working with clients is to create a supportive, collaborative space where you feel seen, understood, and valued just as you are. I work with clients who are navigating life, including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, identity exploration, etc. I take a strengths-based, relational approach to therapy, meaning I focus not only on the difficulties you're facing, but also on the resilience, insight, and abilities you already bring into the room. Together, we build on those strengths to foster growth, healing, and meaningful change. My work is grounded in the belief that healing happens through connection. I prioritize developing a genuine, trusting therapeutic relationship where clients feel safe to explore their experiences at their own pace. I meet you where you are at! As someone who is half Turkish, I also value cultural identity, background, and lived experiences as essential parts of the therapeutic process. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply seeking greater self-understanding, therapy can be a place to find that and I would be honored to support you in that.
Do you ever feel unseen or unheard? Maybe you feel like you don't quite belong? Or maybe you don't feel anything at all? Often, we can feel like we aren’t "good enough." We might feel frustrated or confused about why we lash out at those closest to us. We may feel like we are faking it through adult life and hiding behind our accomplishments or titles. Maybe we feel stuck in our relationships so we avoid conflicts or pretend like things are fine. Maybe we are afraid to take up space, speak up for ourselves, or ask for help. Maybe we don't know how to admit to ourselves that we need help. That's where I can help! I am enthusiastic in supporting and championing first-time therapy seekers because working towards healing is courageous and beautiful. I hope to equip each of my clients with tools and strategies so that, each time we meet, they can leave feeling heard, seen, and empowered. An ideal client will be curious and committed to the process of growth, healing, and recovery; they will be willing to invest time, energy, and effort despite inevitable struggles and setbacks. I function in a lot of ways like a coach: I'll teach skills, provide feedback, and guide clients on how to incorporate and internalize what they've been learning. Together, we can uncover key insights and learn tools to overcome nagging doubts and fears. We can revisit past hurts with curiosity and compassion. I am ready to journey alongside you with humor, grace, and empathy. If you're ready to treat yourself to deep healing & restoration from intergenerational trauma, schedule your FREE 15-minute phone consultation today!
