Therapists for college students near 30309
ONLINE ONLY! In my view, psychotherapy serves different purposes at different stages of one's life. For young adults, one of the key tasks at hand is to discover their potential, talents, weaknesses, fears, wants and needs, and to manage relationships at various levels of emotional intimacy. In this process, many of us need to clarify past issues and unresolved conflicts to move forward more freely. My practice is informal, relaxed and friendly, and most of my clients come from multicultural and multiracial backgrounds, and I treasure diversity. I am comfortable working in English, Portuguese and Spanish languages.
In my practice, I see college students and young adults for a variety of issues including, but not limited to, depression, anxiety, stress, transitions/major life decisions, and career concerns. I provide individual counseling using solution-focused and cognitive therapies. I also employ a whole-person process approach to career counseling so that all factors are considered when making vocational decisions. I strive to provide my clients with a safe, nonjudgmental environment to understand themselves better and move toward a fulfilling life. I often learn as much from my clients as they do from me and I consider therapy a highly collaborative process.
As a clinician, I work to develop a secure and trusting relationship with clients rooted in transparency and mutual vulnerability. Using a strengths-based perspective allows me to help you to uncover parts of yourself that may have been lost due to society’s grueling demands. How can you access a deep level of emotion when you’re just trying to keep your head above water today? When you juggle your job, school, children, relationships, etc.; it can be challenging to experience moments of joy. My goal is to encourage you in your journey and make aspects of your present life more manageable.
Hello! I'm so glad you're taking this step for your mental health. I went to the therapy for the first time while attending college (at USC too!), and it was pivotal for me. I really value working with college students, and genuinely appreciate how much you have to do deal with. Maybe you're struggling with transitions - adjusting to the start of college, or facing the daunting landscape post-graduation. Maybe you can feel all the pressures mounting to the point where you feel paralyzed and burnt out and confused. Maybe you'd like for just one thing - anything - to be taken off your plate, or for the load to be shared somehow. Maybe you're even trying to figure yourself out beyond the story that's been your life so far. I'd like to help make things seem clearer, or kinder, or safer, and I think we can do it together. I offer 45-minute sessions, as well as longer 90-minute sessions, to fit what you might need best. I also offer letters for medical transition, disability, ESA, and can complete return to school forms.

I’m affirming and here to guide you toward clarity. I am accomplished in seeing an individual in the context of their world (relationships, work, physical habits) and noting how patterns in one area may be impacting another. My demeanor is calm and centered, creating a space for true openness and acceptance. I know change is hard, and we naturally resist the unknown. That’s why it’s helpful to have a guide on your path, someone who helps enlighten during a struggle. I also have the ability to find humor in the creative ways life brings important lessons to our attention.

Navigating the transition to college and early adulthood can be exciting, but it can also be incredibly stressful and overwhelming. Are you struggling to manage the pressures of academics, relationships, or being away from home? Do you find yourself constantly worrying, feeling down, or having difficulty sleeping? Are you experiencing conflict with parents, peers, or even professors? Are you questioning whether college is the right path for you, or if you're pursuing it due to external pressure? Everyone experiences some level of stress during this time, but if these feelings are persistent and impacting your daily life, or causing significant relationship strain, it might be helpful to talk to someone. Counseling provides a safe space to explore these challenges, develop coping strategies, and clarify your own goals and values. Our virtual sessions offer the flexibility to meet before, between, or after classes, making it easier than ever to prioritize your mental well-being as you navigate this new chapter. Welcome! My approach to therapy starts with believing that change is in our control and, by working from that mentality, we can learn to accept & grow from what we cannot control in order to live our life in an more optimal way. Being in the LGBT community myself, some of my clients value having a therapist that can connect with that experience. In my therapy space, I value authenticity, safety, freedom to choose, connection to others as well as ourselves, & being challenged. My clients want a safe & comfortable space that can help them facilitate growth (that can sometimes be uncomfortable) & I love when I can provide that. I enjoy working with college students who are curious about themselves, desire change, & are interested in exploring issues or past trauma that they feel may be holding them back. I've completed EMDR Basic Training and use this along with other evidence based practices to help my clients reach their goals.

Do you experience the feeling of loneliness, sadness, or fear of the future? Do these feelings affect your ability to do the things you normally enjoy? Helping people live a life that they love is my passion. Learning how to work through difficult relationships, process grief, set boundaries, or process going through a life transition. My goal is to help you learn how to work through these issues and live the life you've been longing for. I offer a welcoming space with in-person and virtual appointments to suit your schedule. As a therapist, I am here to listen and encourage the client, but the client has to want to do the work within themselves. It is so important for us to work as a team to establish achievable goals that you as the client can work towards. I am the guide, but it is up to the client to put forth the work and effort to heal and better themselves. I would love to hear about you and your story. I am passionate about helping others to feel listened to and acknowledging that we are not identified by our mental health issues. I want to be able to help you to work through your issues. I want to help you rebuild and reframe your thought processes so we can bring hope and light to your situation. I earned my Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Penfield College at Mercer University in Atlanta, Georgia, and my undergraduate degree in Psychology from Young Harris College in Young Harris, Georgia. I am currently working under the supervision of Joel Baker, LMFT, and the clinical direction of Meg McLeroy, LMFT. Please do not hesitate to give me a call or connect with me via email!
You ever wondered if there was a therapist out there who truly gets you? Who could relate and understand your experiences being different than the normative society? Well look no further! I work with clients navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, mood disorders, and relational struggles. I have a special passion for supporting geeks, gamers, creatives, alternative individuals, neurodivergent, and LGBTQ+ clients who often feel like they don’t quite fit the mold. I use evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), along with elements of geek therapy. My clients often come to me struggling with perfectionism, boundary setting, self-esteem, identity, or body image issues, feeling stuck or overwhelmed in a world that doesn’t always make space for who they are. In our work together, we’ll create that space—judgment-free, collaborative, and affirming. Whether you’re battling your inner critic, processing trauma, or just trying to survive in a neurotypical or cis-normative world, I’m here to support your growth, healing, and self-discovery. Therapy doesn’t have to be sterile or detached—we can bring your fandoms, creativity, and passions into the room as tools for healing.
I believe people have the inherent capacity to heal and grow. To support this change, I provide a nonjudgmental, warm, and collaborative therapeutic space. I will work with you to tap into your strengths, gain insight into behaviors that might currently feel stuck or confusing, and learn skills to empower you to effectively deal with stress and emotional ups and downs. My approach is tailored to your specific goals and circumstances, and typically includes a mixture of traditional “talk” therapy with mindfulness, somatic, and trauma-informed practices. I am committed to an anti-oppressive, inclusive approach that welcomes all experiences. I am licensed to provide telehealth in NY, GA, and FL. I also provide in-person sessions in GA.
It takes courage and self-compassion to embrace vulnerability. As a therapist working with children, adolescents, and young adults, I strive to create a haven of unconditional positive regard that welcomes and values the whole person. My therapeutic approach is rooted in person-centered and attachment-based theories. I emphasize authentic, caring, empathetic, supportive, and collaborative connections. If you're navigating complex and challenging thoughts, feelings, or life experiences, I invite you to continue your journey of exploration and self-discovery with me. Together, we can explore and adjust pathways to develop safe and secure connections with yourself and others. I believe that healing, growth, and change are possible for everyone, both from within ourselves and through experiencing a genuine sense of belonging. Through connection, my hope is to invite and encourage a space for us to explore in depth the underlying challenges that may be causing current pain and stress. I earned my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, specializing in Children's and Adolescent Counseling. I have five years of experience working with children and adolescents in the mental health field, working as a registered behavior technician (RBT) at an ABA clinic, a Family Case Manager at the Indianapolis Department of Child Services, and a Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Specialist in an elementary school setting. I enjoy working with children, adolescents, young professionals, and adults experiencing interpersonal intricacies, life transitions, executive functioning difficulties, self-esteem and self-image issues, and multicultural identity exploration and formation. I integrate a variety of theoretical orientations in sessions depending on each person's specific needs, such as narrative therapy, internal family systems, cognitive-behavioral therapy, client-centered therapy, and attachment theory. I work under the direct clinical supervision of Drew Phillips, LMFT, and the clinical direction of Meg McLeroy, LMFT.
