Therapists for college students near Duke University
A lot of the students I work with are in the middle of figuring things out. They may be adjusting to college, navigating changing friendships and relationships, questioning their next steps, or trying to manage anxiety, depression, and the pressure that comes with major life changes. Some feel stuck in patterns they want to change, while others simply want a better understanding of themselves and how to handle life's challenges. Through WellQor, I provide online therapy that can fit into a busy student schedule, and WellQor accepts most major insurance plans to help make care more accessible. I especially enjoy working with women and female-identifying students who are navigating transitions, building confidence, and learning how to cope with difficult emotions in healthier ways. I believe most people are doing the best they can with the tools they currently have. Therapy can be an opportunity to develop new tools, gain perspective, and better understand the patterns that influence your thoughts, emotions, and relationships. My role is not to tell you what direction to take, but to help you feel more confident navigating your own path. If you're feeling overwhelmed, uncertain, or simply looking for support during a challenging season of life, therapy can provide a space to slow down, reflect, and focus on what matters most to you.
One of the greatest joys I have in life is the privilege of walking beside clients on their journey to healing and wellness. I work hard to provide clients with a safe and comfortable space where they can address the issues of importance to them. I view myself as a fellow traveler whose role it is to collaboratively create a map to get clients where they desire to go. No two clients are the same, and no two maps are the same. Each experience with clients is new and deserves a fresh approach which is based on your needs, not mine. I work hard to get to know you, your story, your goals, your strengths, and your growing edges. I hope each and every client leaves the session feeling heard, valued, and respected. As a Marriage and Family Therapist I work with individuals, couples, and families from a systemic point of view. I work with clients to figure out where the various puzzle pieces fit inside their lives and relationships. I have earned a Masters and PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy, and along the way have taken extra training in a variety of areas. I am a sex therapist, a clinical sexologist, a certified sex addiction therapist, a certified partner trauma therapist, and a Gottman Level 3 trained therapist. I invest in the best training in order to provide you with the best tools. Clients come to me to work on issues of depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, anger management concerns, recovering from sexual assault/sexual abuse, and for exploring issues of sexual identity or sexuality issues. I am comfortable working with individuals, couples, and entire families — and I am comfortable working with adolescents and adults. I am in-network with several insurance panels. In working with couples, I primarily utilize the Gottman Method Couples Therapy. This approach to therapy is one of the most well researched and effective approaches to helping couples resolve issues, increase connection, improve communication, and gain a better understanding of how relationships work. When I am not in the office, you can usually find me hanging out at home, tending the garden, collecting eggs from the chickens, caring for our goats, harassing our dogs and cats, or harassing my very patient wife and very tolerant adult children. I sometimes get to play golf (and sadly lose A LOT of balls). And I enjoy working with various local groups such as the Human Rights Coalition of Alachua County, the Human Rights Council, the PRIDE Center, and working to help make our community a safe place for all people. Licensed in or able to provide telehealth services in the following states: Delaware, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Utah, Virginia
As a licensed clinical psychologist with more than 20 years of experience, I have worked with individuals from many different backgrounds and life stages, helping them navigate challenges related to stress, anxiety, trauma, life transitions, and personal growth. Throughout my career, I've worked in a variety of settings, including military and veteran healthcare, behavioral health programs, and private practice, which has given me a broad perspective on the many ways people experience and respond to life's challenges. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and rooted in evidence-based care. I believe therapy should be a space where you feel comfortable exploring your experiences, gaining new perspectives, and developing skills that support your well-being both now and in the future. Whether you're facing a specific challenge or simply looking for support during a period of growth and change, I strive to create an environment where you feel heard, respected, and empowered.

I understand that reaching out for support is a big step, often taken while overwhelmed by difficult emotions. Many of my clients come to me feeling exhausted, whether it manifests as persistent worry, disconnection from loved ones, or low self-esteem. You might feel stuck, sensing that something’s off, even if you can't pinpoint exactly what it is. These feelings are common, and you are not alone. I often work with clients processing past trauma, seeking greater self-awareness, and coping with ongoing stress. My goal is to meet you where you are and support you in forging deeper connections with yourself, others, and the world. Therapy is not always easy. But that doesn't mean it is without joy. In therapy, we get to come to an appreciation of both joy and sorrow that are the consequences of living a fully human life. Through appropriate challenge and support, we are able to expand the range of our humanity and our participation in the world. My approach is grounded in brief psychodynamic models of treatment. I believe that therapy can help make us conscious of the adjustments we have made to cope with our life circumstances and can shine a light on new possibilities towards greater authenticity. I continually seek to improve my own utility as a therapist, and I read voraciously towards that end. My understanding of psychology, sociology, and social work provide not only a foundation for understanding client struggles, but also a basis from which to conceptualize growth and solutions.

At Lifeologie Counseling Raleigh & Durham, we bring creative solutions to stuck problems. Our first mission is to help you find the right therapist for your unique needs. We want you to get connected with the right therapist for you, and our creative, collaborative team of counselors work together to help you navigate the complexities of your life. We offer multiple specialties and therapy styles for individuals, couples, families and students of all ages.
The clients I work best with are often the ones who appear “put together” on the outside but feel overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected on the inside. They’re typically reliable, high-functioning and used to being the person others depend on but privately, they may be dealing with anxiety, burnout, overthinking, or a sense that they’ve lost themselves in their roles. Many of my clients struggle with people-pleasing, difficulty setting boundaries, or feeling responsible for others’ emotions. Some are navigating major life transitions like relationship changes, co-parenting, or figuring out their next steps in school or career. Others may not have a clear “reason” for therapy but know something feels off and want more clarity, balance, or a stronger sense of self. I work well with folks who are open to looking a little deeper, at patterns in relationships, how past experiences may still be showing up, and how stress or emotions live in the body. You don’t have to have it all figured out. If you’re willing to be curious about yourself and want practical tools alongside deeper understanding, this space can be a good fit.
We offer a collaborative therapy approach that is both supportive and challenging. We utilize only research-based therapies in an approachable and flexible way, taking each client’s goals into account.

Beginning the work of therapy can bring up many emotions, and I am here to be with you through all of them. I approach therapy with reverence for your lived experience, nervous system, and desires for the future. I specialize in working with teenagers through adults to address concerns related to anxiety, depression, life transitions big or small, religion and identity, and family of origin issues. I’m passionate about working with parents to explore their own histories and ties to the present, as well as individuals seeking to understand their experience of neurodivergence or that of a loved one. I utilize a psychodynamic approach and draw from relational-cultural theory, polyvagal theory, and internal family systems. This means we will wonder together about the ways past experiences and relationships impact you in the present emotionally, mentally, and physically. I'm deeply committed to maintaining an anti-racist, neurodiversity-affirming, and queer-affirming practice, considering clients and their challenges in the context of oppressive systems. I know how challenging it can be to find a therapist who feels like a good fit, and I'd love to connect with you if anything in my approach resonates with your experiences.
I see therapy as a collaborative effort between myself and my clients. As a queer black woman, my goal is to provide space for those like me and others who have felt silenced and marginalized a majority of their lives. I have a passion for working with women of color and LGBTQIA+ identifying folks. If you find yourself experiencing things like depression and anxiety, or low self-esteem/self-concept, I may be a good fit for you. I have past experience working with clients on things like life adjustments (moving, end of a relationship, career change, etc.), grief and loss, day-to-day stressors, and relationship concerns - romantic, platonic, familial, and professional.
