I work collaboratively with students who face a variety of challenges, including life transitions, relationship issues, and navigating queer identities. College and graduate school typically occur at pivotal developmental points for people in terms of figuring out who they are, what they want, and separating/individuating from parental figures. Together, we will work to understand your inner life, what works and what doesn't in terms of your thinking, behavior and ways of relating to others. Often, patterns develop that help us stay safe and secure when we're young, but would benefit from re-examination and modification to live a more fulfilling adult life. I have a sub-specialty working with people with Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), a highly distressing fixation on a perceived appearance defect that can impact daily functioning and quality of life. I help you understand where the appearance fixation originated, including negative self appraisals and rituals/compulsions that accompany BDD. Learning to face feared and avoided situations is a gradual process that takes place over time, freeing you from the hold of BDD and leading to improved functioning and a more satisfying life.

I view the therapeutic relationship as similar to canoeing - it requires you to provide the steering, while I supply the momentum, and motivation and commitment from both of us to get to the destination. In our work together, I believe in giving you space to explore your story, as it was, as it is, as you want it to be, in a safe, supportive, empowering way that will, in time, allow you to feel confident and secure within your mind, body, and relationships. Within my practice, I utilize eco-therapy as a means to build an objective, curious, and comfortable relationship with the physical world around us, in order to practice building that same relationship within ourselves and with the people around us. It can feel so easy to get swept up in judgemental, shame-based thoughts, creating false perceptions, emotional pain and isolation. And yet, in the same way we prepare for cold winter nights or sweltering summer heat, so too can we weather the storms of our social and emotional worlds. To orient our work towards achieving your therapeutic goals, I work with Internal Family Systems, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, existential therapy, somatic therapy, animal therapy, ecotherapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, CBT and mindfulness practices. Utilizing this interdisciplinary blend we can identify and work through the obstacles to then find ways to move forward and love yourself into creating your ideal reality. I accept individuals, couples and families of all genders, identities, religions, and backgrounds. With a client-centered approach I believe you are the greatest expert of your own life, and in order to effectively row this canoe I ask for trust, honesty, commitment, curiosity, and engagement, so I, in return, will provide compassion, patience, knowledge, and reflection.

Here for you, always - and we mean that. Life doesn’t always go according to plan, and when that happens it can feel like the walls around you are caving in. We’re here to help you push those walls back up and construct a life that feels aligned with the one you have always envisioned for yourself. Manhattan Wellness isn’t your typical clinical practice, and that’s intentional. You may have considered therapy in the past but felt like the entire process was too cold, too clinical or too buttoned up. We’re here to change that for you. Our therapists are authentic (and human- just like you) and have an approach that makes you feel like you’re talking to a friend over coffee- not someone who is analyzing you with a pen and paper in hand. Our clients know that they are the experts of their own experience Every human experience is unique, which means therapy for moving through those experiences should be too. MW doesn’t believe in one-size-fits-all treatment. Instead, we offer our unique combination of client-tailored techniques and empathy-first approach. This cultivates a safe and supportive environment where you feel comfortable and inspired to make powerful strides towards living your best life both now and later. Just like how your hairstylist knows exactly how you like your blowout, your therapist will get to know you on a personal level and create a tailored therapy plan that works for you because it was made for you. Manhattan Wellness is a boutique psychotherapy practice that just gets it. Sessions feel like you’re talking to a trusted friend, not a therapist, and you have the opportunity to share what’s on your mind without judgment. We offer both in person and virtual therapy sessions that help you work through obstacles so you can live your best life both now and in the future. Our providers lead with empathy and understanding so you truly feel heard and validated. Therapy should never feel like a “one size fits all” solution. That’s why we offer a complimentary 15 minute consultation call with a hand-selected provider that meets your unique needs.

At the heart of my work is the belief that growth begins when we turn inward; not only to solve problems, but to truly listen. Beneath stress, self-doubt, and burnout is often a quieter call for balance, meaning, and wholeness. In our sessions, I’ll invite you to slow down, tune in, and reconnect with parts of yourself that may have been overshadowed by deadlines, expectations, or the pressure to achieve. My approach blends psychodynamic and somatic (body-centered) therapy to explore both your inner world (unconscious patterns, images, and beliefs) and the lived experience of your body, where insight and change can take root. I’m LGBTQIA+ affirming and work with students navigating anxiety, perfectionism, burnout, creative blocks, identity questions, and challenges with eating and body image, relationships, self-worth, or belonging. I’m particularly drawn to working with artists and creatives. What matters most to me is creating a space that is open, safe, and judgment-free; a space where you can explore who you are, discover your own meaning, and move toward a life that feels both authentic and sustainable. I am a clinical psychologist working with emerging adults and couples, specializing in issues around gender and sexuality as well as creativity and artistic identity. In practice, I believe in the utility of a strong working alliance, and strive to make you feel both understood and empowered throughout the evolution of treatment. While psychodynamic in orientation, I view my practice as integrative. Looking at patterns present in affect, behavior, and cognition, as well as through interpersonal experience, I endeavor to meet each patient where they are. I have extensive experience in couples and group therapy, particularly with non-monogamous and queer-identified populations. My clinical approach is informed by Emotion Focused Psychotherapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness. At the same time, developmental history and early attachment patterns remain fundamental to my understanding of people. I view it as an immense privilege, coupled with high responsibility, to be entrusted with someone’s vulnerability. I earned my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at CUNY City College. I also hold a Masters in Violin Performance from the Manhattan School of Music, where I subsequently served as a therapist in residence. I was formerly a violinist in the NYC-based quartet, ETHEL. My musical background and capacity for self-observation continue to inform my practice as a therapist. It is my experience that therapy provides a valuable stage, one on which you and I can imagine a different repertoire of human experience together.

As a licensed social worker/psychotherapist my aim is to create a safe space for you to talk and organize your thoughts. My style is supportive and non-judgmental. I work with adolescents and adults of all ages. As every case is unique, I practice one-on-one psychotherapy informed by an array of modalities. I am highly attuned to the needs of the individual person and encourage gentle exploration of one's current behaviors and how they may be influenced by one's past. In addition to psychotherapy, I practice psychoanalysis, which can afford a deeper exploration.

Starting college is a major transition, and it can bring a mix of excitement, pressure, stress, and uncertainty. You may find yourself feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or unsure of how to navigate relationships, academics, and the growing expectations of independence. I work with students to better understand their emotional experiences, build confidence, and develop more effective ways of managing stress. Together, we focus on helping you feel more grounded, more connected, and better able to navigate both your inner world and your relationships. I am also licensed to provide comprehensive in-person testing. This may be for your personal understanding of yourself or it could be to support applications for accommodations for academic work at your college or for standardized testing (e.g. GRE, LSAT, MCAT etc).

I’m a psychologist who practices primarily from psychodynamic and psychoanalytic approaches. Psychotherapy is a method of personal change and self-discovery through conversation. It’s unlike most conversations that we get to have in our day-to-day lives because no topic is off limits. The areas we delve into will include your stressors, relationships, sexuality, dreams, fantasies, anger, anxieties, and the unconscious motivations for your decisions.

My name is Savi and I’m a licensed clinical social worker in private practice. I have a particular interest in working with students as much of my clinical experience is in working with people in their teens and early 20’s who are going through the big life changes that happen at these times. There is so much to navigate during this time in life with academic demands, becoming more independent from our families, and starting new relationships. There are many reasons we are drawn to start therapy, but I find it is often because we are struggling with difficult feelings related to these things that we may not understand and don’t know how to get rid of. I think it’s important that you have a safe place to talk about these feelings and for us to begin to understand what is underneath them.

Through careful listening and an empathic, honest approach I can help you feel better about yourself and your life. You may feel stuck in a job or relationship, or overly stressed with the demands of school. You may want more from life but not know how to get it. You may be struggling with with the difficulties of parenthood or marriage. I can help with artistic, creative, or intellectual struggles, body issues, sexual problems, substance issues, imbalances of life and work, impulse control, past trauma, or even just a general lack of inspiration or motivation in life. The goal is always to feel better about love and work. I welcome adult individuals and adolescents into my practice, with a focus on college students. My work is psychoanalytically informed but pragmatic, and it is important to me to get to know my patients well and to spend time working collaboratively through their needs. I hold master's and doctorate degrees in clinical psychology from The Wright Institute in Berkeley, CA and completed my psychoanalytic training at the Columbia University Center for Psychoanalytic Training and Research in New York. My private practice office is located in Union Square in Manhattan, and in the coming months I'll be opening an office in the Hudson Valley area of upstate New York.

Individuals who find Advika Anand, therapist and EMDR practitioner, are often feeling stuck—trapped in cycles of overthinking, stress, or sadness. Life may feel like sinking in quicksand, with thoughts and emotions pulling them deeper the more they struggle. Many notice recurring patterns—emotional, physical, or relational—that feel difficult to change, no matter how much effort they have made. Advika’s approach to therapy is collaborative, trauma-informed, and rooted in both somatic and evidence-based practices. She works alongside clients to create a sense of safety, build self-awareness, and gently explore the root causes of distress at a pace that feels comfortable. Central to her process is recognizing the deep connection between mind and body. Drawing from EMDR therapy, relational psychotherapy, mindfulness, and DBT, Advika helps clients regulate emotions, heal from past experiences, and strengthen their relationships—with themselves and others. Her work often involves processing trauma, building emotional resilience, and developing practical skills for personal growth. Advika believes that healing is a two-step process: addressing sources of distress while also equipping clients with mental and emotional tools to thrive.
