Before becoming a therapist, I was a college professor. My favorite part of the job was supporting students who were going through it, whether because of the transition of becoming a college student, or because they were experiencing mental health challenges for the first time--or a worsening of symptoms. I love working with clients who are dealing with perfectionism, people-pleasing/boundary setting, communication challenges (with family, roommates, friends, partners), general anxiety, social anxiety, depression, and OCD. I also have a lot of experience and passion working with clients navigating gender and sexuality, including being on the ace/aro spectrums.

I work with college students navigating life transitions, loss, and the question of who they are and what comes next, often carrying patterns, unspoken expectations, or a sense of self shaped by experiences they didn't choose. As a bilingual, native Spanish-speaking therapist, I understand how nuanced identity can be and how exhausting it is when that isn't fully seen or honored. My specialty is helping young adult clients reclaim a sense of self during stages of life where identity and agency are often overlooked. I believe in a body-first, present-focused approach to treat your symptoms, prioritizing stabilization while trusting that lasting change comes from a deeper understanding of our histories, relationships, internal worlds, and motivations.

I believe in a personalized approach that meets you where you are in your life. I incorporate a variety of different styles and techniques depending on what is going on in your life and what you need. In the initial sessions, you can expect me to get to know you and what is going on in your life. Known for being thoughtful and understanding, I ask questions to spark reflection and help you gain insights. Establishing a solid connection is essential; I aim to create a space where you feel at ease, understood, and never pressured to share anything until you're ready. My work is rooted in cultural humility, inclusivity, and trauma-informed care. I am committed to affirming LGBTQ+ identities, honoring neurodivergence, and understanding how race, culture, gender, class, and ability shape each person’s unique experience.

I love working with students who care about their relationships and want to feel more connected—to partners, friends, or themselves. Many of the people I see are creative, thoughtful, and maybe a little unsure of where they’re headed next. Whether you’re dealing with relationship stress, an existential “what am I doing with my life?” moment, or just trying to communicate better, therapy can be a space to slow down and figure things out together.

I treat clients who have anxiety, depression, ADHD, PTSD, and transitional issues that cause identity crisis. I also work with Neurodivergent clients including clients who are autistic (ASD). My clients often struggle with their high standards, perfectionism, and wanting to please others. I have a very diverse clientele that includes LGBTQ+, AAPI, Arab Americans, Indian Americans, Pakistani/Bangladeshi Americans, and African Americans. My approach is, we are in this together. I have clients who know why they are seeking therapy, but many clients can’t articulate the specific reason. You don’t need to have a specific reason, but you sought out help because you are ready to address something in your life. I focus on your strengths and skills that can help you address your problems. My approach is to have an open and organic conversation with you while being non judgmental, patient, and actively listening. My clients have said that my interactive style, positive attitude, and humor are reasons they continue to see me. In our initial sessions, we will work to identify the issues you wish to discuss and how they impact your life. I value your perspective and life experience as key components of the therapeutic process. I am always willing to meet with a client for a free consultation via phone or video.

Feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from yourself or your relationships? You’re not alone. Between chronic stress, systemic inequities, and the emotional labor of simply getting through the day, it can be hard to know where to begin. If you’re here, something in you is ready for change. I’m a Black male therapist in NYC providing trauma-informed online therapy to adults across New York State. I work with individuals who are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, racial and cultural identity concerns, relationship challenges, and the emotional impact of discrimination and marginalization. Many of my clients are Black men, people of color, immigrants, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and young adults seeking care that feels affirming, honest, and grounded. My approach is culturally responsive, collaborative, and relational. Together, we explore patterns shaped by past experiences while also building practical tools to support emotional resilience, self-trust, and meaningful change in the present. Therapy with me is a space where you do not need to code-switch, shrink, or perform. You get to show up as you are. Do people tell you that you worry too much? That you should try to "be positive" or "stop overthinking everything all the time"? Do you ever wonder how other people manage to not care as much as you do about larger social issues and big questions? Does this ever make you feel anxious or overwhelmed? You are not alone. Together we can help find solutions, improve your sense of self and your relationships, provide safety and warmth, and start to create meaning and order in the chaos of our world. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, transitions, relationship problems, and work difficulties. My approach is holistic, honoring the mind-body connection and individual strengths. I work best with clients who have a natural curiosity about themselves and others. My style is warm, honest and nonjudgmental, and my practice draws from psychodynamic psychotherapy, mindfulness, EMDR, internal family systems, and attachment-based neuroscience.

Trauma can be an invisible wound that can affect many parts of our lives we don’t even realize. I work with clients with depression, anxiety, adoption triad concerns, and trauma-related issues. Change can be hard. Having the courage to reach out and discuss your inner pain and anxiety is the first step. I want to help you work through your past painful experiences, feelings of shame, and traumatic events so that you can create a new life path. I believe each person has their own pace, and am willing to find therapies and strategies that work for you. My approach is open-minded, trauma-based, cognitive, and holistic. I started my career in psychology and counseling when I experienced a suicide in my family. It gave me the courage to make changes for myself, and help people around me who were also suffering grief, loss, and depression. I’m an advocate of mental health issues, a proud adoptee, and a supporter of the arts. **I only accept insurance in the state of North Carolina**
