Many college students feel stressed, anxious, or unsure how to handle everything on their own. Between classes, friendships, family expectations, and figuring out what comes next, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed or stuck. Therapy gives you a space to process what you’re experiencing, understand yourself more clearly, and build coping skills that actually work in your day-to-day life. I offer virtual sessions, which makes it easier to fit therapy into your schedule wherever you are. My style is warm, supportive, and practical, and we’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

My approach to therapy is focused on developing genuine relationships that are collaborative and empathic, so clients can feel safe, understood, and supported in sessions. I’m committed to exploring and affirming each client's individuality and intersecting identities, and to supporting individuals in the LGBTQ+ and CNM communities, college students, and professors. I work with adults focused on issues related to social anxiety, ADHD, trauma, LGBTQ+ issues, relationship/communication dynamics, and climate anxiety. Sessions are based on a foundation of relational warmth and safety to build a sense of connection, empowerment, deeper insight, and personal resiliency. I primarily draw from person-centered, feminist, trauma-informed, narrative, and IFS approaches, but there is not one specific kind of therapy that works well for everyone. We all have unique strengths and perspectives. Sessions focus on identifying ways to create sustainable positive changes given each client's particular context and lived experience.

We do this by offering evidence-based psychotherapy and psycho-educational services for people to learn and practice strategies that promote resilience and persistence so they can live more embodied, joyful and purposeful lives in the face of life’s challenges. One of our specialties is working with emerging adults. Emerging adulthood is a more self-focused time of identity exploration, with the young person poised on the cusp of opportunity, attempting to actively create the future ahead while also feeling the inherent instability of the fledging process of as well. Navigating the demands of life before and after college, finding an alternative path to college, and transitioning to a new career and new relationships is challenging. It can feel overwhelming. You do not have to do this alone. We offer a variety of solutions that assist in the following ways: *Exploring identity development in a safe and confidential setting *Learning to negotiate conflicts with peers and adults *Increasing self-regulation *Exploring role transitions within the family l Becoming more independent from family *Creating more intimate friendships and relationships with peers * Consolidating identity and self-regulation *Developing greater organization and time management skills *Making healthier lifestyle choices *Learning to be assertive *Establishing oneself as a capable and valued person within society Did you know? My approach centers on engaging in self-discovery and awareness of your thoughts, feelings and behavioral patterns. This internal world influences anxiety, depression, mood stability and reactivity. Therapy is where you can take the time to get to know more about yourself and ways to build helpful self-care practices. Many of my clients come to therapy struggling with persistent self-doubt, critical inner narratives, as well as the weight of expectations around identity, achievement, and emotional expression. These expectations can distort our sense of self worth, making it challenging to define and meet important self-growth goals. Together, we can work to intuitively explore what may be contributing to these challenges, current belief systems and behavioral patterns. I value a conversational approach to therapy, where you can feel open in expressing your thoughts, concerns and internal narratives in order to ultimately choose if they are still serving you or it may be time for change. How we speak to ourselves matters; it not only affects our mood but also our motivation, behavior, and ability to connect with others. When we cultivate an intentional internal dialogue that aligns with our values we can begin to unlock a greater sense of autonomy and capability. This process leads to lessened anxiety, greater self confidence and acceptance.

Hi, I am a LMHC and I graduated with my master’s degree from WCSU and I am also a certified personal trainer. I enjoy working with teenagers and adults from the ages 14 and up. I also like working with mothers and daughters whom have a strained relationship or just need some help with building their relationship back up. I specialize with issues like anxiety, depression, self-esteem:etc. I always knew I wanted to help other people from a young age. As a kid and teenager I struggled with shyness, self-esteem issues and depression. A lot of the time I felt like I was alone and felt like I was not heard. Since then my goal in life was to help others feel like they are not alone and they are heard no matter the issue. I also believe in treating the whole person. The body and mind are connected, therefore both should be treated. On top of being a therapist, I am also a personal trainer for the last 6 years. I use many different approaches including DBT, CBT, mindfulness techniques, art therapy and psychodynamic. I think every individual is unique, therefore there isn’t just a “one size fits all” approach. I like to speak to each client for a few minutes via phone to make sure that I am the right fit for them. Then I move on to scheduling the first session which consists of me asking questions and getting to know my client and their goals for treatment. I like to take a collaborative approach and allow my client to be the leader in what works and what doesn’t work for them in treatment. I want to help anyone who is willing to put in the work in and out of session. I like to have my clients set small goals in between sessions and review them the following session as a way of assisting in their healing process. I was taught to be kind because you never know what someone else is going through. This value has allowed me to be more empathetic and it allowed me to always be curious. From a young child I was always interested in different cultures. I make sure to take time to look at everyone’s perspectives and check my own judgements. I am constantly learning about different cultures to make sure others feel comfortable and welcomed when they come see me for therapy.

I’m glad you’re here. Looking for support is a big first step. Therapy can be a place to slow down, to make sense of what you’re dealing with, and find new ways forward that feel more manageable. I have extensive experience working with college-aged and emerging adults navigating identity, relationships, and life transitions. Additionally, I've worked with adults on the autism spectrum, family members and caregivers of people with developmental disabilities, and others in helping roles. More importantly, I’m interested in getting to know you as an individual and working together in a way that feels supportive, practical, and aligned with who you are. Therapy works best when it feels like a partnership. I’ll listen, guide, and support you as you build on your strengths, tackle challenges, and develop practical tools for growth. Together, we’ll create a safe space where you can feel understood, empowered, and more confident in yourself.

Hi, I'm Dr. Spesh, a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with specialized experience in culturally informed treatment of anxiety, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and other stress-related disorders. I enjoy working with culturally diverse individuals with a broad range of psychological problems, life, & relationship issues. My clinical and research background has specifically focused on women’s mental health, trauma (including military combat and sexual trauma), and individuals experiencing marginalization and minority stress (e.g. Black women/men, Ethnic/Racial minorities/People of Color, LGBTQ+ identified individuals). I am a Yale-trained clinician with over a decade of experience in providing psychotherapy. At my practice, D.I.V.E. Therapy & Consulting LLC, I provide individual therapy focused on a range of issues. As an LGBTQ ally with a specialized background in LGBTQ health, I also offer evaluations and letters for gender-affirming hormone therapy and surgery. As an experienced therapist I recognize that people seek therapy for a range of clinical and/or life issues, but the common goal is reducing and addressing barriers that get in the way of living a fulfilling life. If what you have read is consistent with your needs, contact me for free 15 minute consultation to see if D.I.V.E. is a good fit for you.

I understand that many seek therapy during very difficult times, times when overwhelming life stressors and transitions begin to interfere with daily life, relationships, or a sense of well-being. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and psychotherapist, I’m here to help adults ages 18 and up develop practical tools and insight so symptoms no longer dictate how they live. Throughout my career, I’ve worked with patients in overcoming mental health symptoms that impact day-to-day functioning. This includes discomfort in social situations due to anxiety, depression, or low motivation; or seeking treatment because of significant life challenges such as relationship discord, professional stressors and burnout, and loss. No matter the struggle, my goal is to assist in the development of tools and coping skills that help patients better manage emotions. If you relate to these struggles and are ready to hear more, please reach out today. Together, we will build practical tools, insight, and resilience so you can navigate challenges with greater confidence and clarity. I believe a strong collaborative relationship is key to helping you manage symptoms of anxiety and depression and move toward living the life you want. That’s why therapy with me is collaborative, respectful, and focused on creating a space where you feel heard and understood. Our time together is conversational, not clinical; I don’t use a lot of clinical jargon, as I feel that this approach allows for the clearest communication and reduces the presence of a power dynamic. When people ask me why I chose the field of social work and became a therapist, my answer is simple: it just seemed to fit me. My first introduction to social work and psychotherapy was during my second year of college. Of course, I had an interest in psychology, but I’ve also always had a keen curiosity about people and their stories. Social work and psychotherapy certainly allow me to combine those two interests. Still, it wasn't just the course work in those classes that caught my attention – it was the professors. They spoke with compassion about helping others in a way that was authentic and genuine. By the end of those classes, I'd found a profession that allowed me to be my authentic self and still help people. I enjoy live music and spending time at the beach when I’m not with patients. I'm also an avid hockey and baseball fan – go NY Islanders and Mets!
