Hi! I'm Lauren. My goal is to help you cultivate more peace, stability, and joy in your life. Together, we can work toward reducing stress, fostering emotional balance, and creating meaningful connections that support your overall well-being. Whether you're seeking clarity during a challenging time or looking to make lasting changes, I am here to support you on your journey to a more fulfilling and harmonious life. I'm a social worker who enjoys working with adults, adolescents, and children from all backgrounds and intersecting identities. I'm committed to being an anti-racist, anti-oppressive, LGBTQIA+ affirming practitioner who integrates social justice into my practice whenever possible. As a therapist, I will focus on your strengths and resilience, trust you to be the expert of your own experiences, and provide a warm and supportive environment to freely explore your thoughts, feelings, and desires for change. I have experience working with people living with anxiety, depression, OCD, and who have experienced trauma. My style is humanistic and relational, often incorporating cognitive behavioral techniques, mindfulness practices, emotion-focused approaches, and somatic practices. I will integrate these different approaches according to your specific needs.

Hi, I'm Lisa! I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in private practice in New York and Florida. I realize how daunting it can be to reach out when you’re struggling and find a therapist you implicitly trust. My personal experience in therapy informs my work and fuels connection for those in need of emotional nourishment, fulfillment, and a new foundation of confidence. With a deep passion for eating disorder recovery advocacy, I help individuals to recover from eating disorders, self-esteem, and body image issues. I strive to create a safe space and foster a genuine, compassionate, non-judgmental relationship with my clients. Everyone’s struggle is unique, yet together we will nurture your self-compassion, food freedom, and body appreciation, so you are able to show up as your authentic self and access your full potential. By validating your perspective, I am dedicated to creating a safe, encouraging, non-judgmental environment where you can explore and express your emotions, discover proper coping mechanisms and life skills to contend with daily challenges and make empowering choices. I encourage the importance of vulnerability, authenticity, communication, self-acceptance, and positive self-talk. Throughout my own personal journey, I trusted and felt the most connection with the clinicians who were recovered themselves. I have learned to own my story and share my truth to make you feel more trusting and comfortable. Having this connection has proved invaluable. I am so grateful for my work and love being able to help others to find the same freedom that I did. Owning my story, stepping outside my comfort zone, and leaning into discomfort has helped me become the person I am today, doing what I know I was always meant to do. Recovery can be your reality when you grant yourself kindness and compassion. I aim to provide support and education to individuals and families affected by eating disorders. I create a bridge for those needing and seeking help by connecting patients with a full comprehensive out-patient team including myself, an ED-sensitive Physician, Dietician, and Psychiatrist, if need be. A triple-team approach is often essential for those in recovery, and I collaborate with some of the best ED specialists and treatment centers in NYC and Florida. I am a graduate of New York University's Applied Psychology, Masters Counseling program for Mental Health and Wellness. Additionally, I have completed my BFA in Drama from Tisch School of the Arts and engaged in the MA, Drama Education Program at New York University. I am a member of The Academy of Eating Disorders and International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals Foundation. Additionally, I have actively participated in the comprehensive services of The National Alliance for Eating Disorders, Monte Nido & Affiliates, and Balance Eating Disorder Treatment Center, including various continuing education courses, trainings, clinical supervision groups, and national weekly support groups. I am licensed to practice psychotherapy and treat patients in New York, as well as patients that reside in Florida, via Telehealth.

College can be a time of exploration and fun but also a time full of stress and adjustment. Many people I work with have challenges with family or friends they need to resolve, while others struggle with maintaining structure due to low motivation or mental health barriers. I aim to help people find their inner strengths & resolve whatever issues are hindering their progress in life.

My core values are faith, family, social and economic justice. My worldview is quite simple. You see, I believe that everyone has a right to be in a good place mentally physically and spiritually. I find that I have evolved into a change agent - which is a natural profession for a social worker. The same steps that I have taken to secure my life, mentally physically and emotionally, are the very same steps I am willing to assist my patients/clients in taking. My specialties lie in my abilities to move a person or a family from a place of dysfunction to functionality. I strive to improve the quality of life those whom I counsel. My theoretical framework a solution focused, interwoven with resiliency theory, using a strength-based approach. I am just a chat away if you need me – 'how may I help you?"

Licensed in New York and Massachusetts- I bring 20 years of experience working with college students from diverse backgrounds and experiences. Together, I've helped students navigate unexpected life changes, feelings of grief and loss, anger, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, spiritual questions, identity exploration and trauma as well as the many other complex emotions and challenges that life can bring. No matter what has brought you to this place, my goal is to build a trusting and supportive relationship where we can explore your experience, your strengths and your motivation for change. I take a wholehearted approach to your psychological, emotional and relational well-being, and I seek to honor your whole person by exploring the integrated aspects of your environment and other important factors that have played an active role in shaping your exterior and interior life. Together we will pursue deeper questions and connections related to your whole self including your emotional and physical health, your history, your relationships, your work, your habits and your interests among the other dimensions that make you uniquely you. Currently, I offer licensed mental health therapy through confidential Telehealth, an alternative to in-person therapy that helps you save time, money and energy while providing opportunities for you to make progress and achieve significant milestones. Due to the coronavirus, my practice is telehealth only. Connecting with a laptop , ipad or phone is easy. I work best with persistent persons wanting a better quality of life. Because it can be difficult to seek help, I provide psychoeducation about therapy to clients and am forthright and supportive. So if you are feeling anxious or sad, have worries, or are worried about social, attention or homework skills, I am able to help. Clients who are motivated to do better and want relief from school, social and family stresses can benefit from my approach to therapy. It is important to remember that each person is an individual who has his or her individual concerns. My approach is focused, following a cognitive-behavioral orientation. I work with a wide range of and have an understanding of the unique culture of colleges and universities. Individuals seen in my practice are generally anxious, stressed, panicky and dealing with life circumstances. I enhance skills through university teaching and professional writing. Treatment emphasizes coping and problem solving skills, which are tools used when formal therapy has ended. One should acquire the ability to see alternatives so problems become less overwhelming and more manageable. As someone who is teaching college students online, I have an understanding of the pressures and stresses that come with the logistics of navigating online instruction. The college students seen in my practice report anxieties related to multiple personal/social, academic and work demands as well as the changes in daily life due to the coronavirus

Students who come to work with me often share some things in common: -They're high-achievers. Driven, capable, and holding it together on the outside, but quietly exhausted, burned out, or feeling like something's missing on the inside. -They might be navigating anxiety or OCD, going through a major life transition, or questioning their purpose and what comes next. They may be working through shifts in their relationships, with a partner, with their parents, or with themselves. -Many have never asked for help before. They're used to being the one who has it together, and reaching out takes real courage for them. If any of that sounds familiar, reach out for a free 20-minute consultation and let's get started together :)
