I specialize in working with individuals in their 20s and 30s who are experiencing challenges in their lives or just trying to understand themselves better.
I have more than 12 years of experience in the field of counseling. I have had the privilege of working with people from many backgrounds and life experiences, including those with a history of mental health illnesses or conditions and co-occurring disorders. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I desire to work with people to help them find their own potential, and to pursue their goals in life. By nature, I use a holistic approach to therapy for the clients I work with which allows me to learn who my clients are as people before working with them to develop a personalized health plan based on their values, needs, and goals. This has been a valuable approach for me as a therapist over the years.

It takes a great deal of strength to wake up each day and face life head on. I believe that there are times in our lives that present challenges to the person you are or want to be. Whether you are dealing with stress, worry, depression, or are not getting out of life what you want or deserve, talking to someone may be helpful. With over 8 years of experience in the mental health field, I value the person you are and the person you want to be. I believe you have the ability and right to get out of life all that you want. I believe that therapy is collaborative process between the client and the therapist which assists in resolving client's specific needs and concerns, and enriches the overall quality of the client's life beyond just problem solving. I truly enjoy working with young adults that are going through life's transitions, whether is be: moving away from home, attending college, exploring new relationships, managing stress and anxiety. I also can assist with depression and feeling overwhelmed, family conflict, self esteem, unresolved trauma, grief/loss, and management of daily life stressors.

I have a passion for working with people who want to live more fulfilling lives with a more genuine connection to themselves and others. My clients feel more empowered in their actions and relationships instead of letting their unhelpful thoughts and behaviors take over, while growing a more accepting and compassionate perspective towards themselves. It’s always a good session when my clients feel challenged and motivated to work towards their goals between sessions. I believe that much of the therapy work is completed between sessions just as much as it is in the hour minutes we will spend together each week. As a therapist, I’m not afraid of bearing witness to your pain and fear while finding ways to recognize joy and hope. I truly believe in each of my clients’ ability to grow and change. As an Exposure-based therapist, I’ll encourage you to take steps to approach your fears and reclaim your life. As a woman of color, I am sensitive to the ways that identity and mental health intersect and impact each other. I take an action-oriented and direct approach. Therapy is an investment in YOU, and I value all that my clients put into this work. I aim to “work myself out of a job” with each client, because I know that the goal isn’t to stay in treatment forever– it’s to live happier and healthier lives.

At Balanced Beginnings LLC, I collaborate with you and aid you in process of becoming whole. Life often presents moments where, for various reasons, we find ourselves entangled in conflicts affecting our mental well-being. In these instances, we are faced with a crucial choice—to either turn towards or away from a deeper understanding of ourselves. I firmly believe that every emotion and symptom serves as a key, unlocking doors through which we journey into the unconscious and shine a light into the darkest parts of ourselves. My approach is grounded in psychodynamic and emotion-focused perspectives, creating a sacred space that welcomes all facets of yourself, both known and unknown. Within this space, we will allow what needs acknowledgment to rise to the surface of consciousness. Together, we will navigate these revelations with compassion and acceptance, fostering what’s needed to integrate all parts of yourself into a more unified whole.

You might feel torn between what you want and what everyone else expects from you. You try to make the right choices, keep the peace, and be there for everyone, yet you are left feeling anxious, guilty, and unsure of your own needs. I work with women who feel stuck in relationships, career decisions, and life transitions, and who want to understand themselves more clearly and set healthier boundaries. My work is grounded in CBT, Mindfulness, EMDR, strengths-based therapy, and Trauma Informed care. I pay close attention to the mind-body connection because it often reveals what words cannot. Our goal is to help you feel more like yourself, more confident in your decisions, and more connected to what you truly want. I show up with honesty, compassion, and a little humor. I will support you, challenge you, and call out the patterns that keep showing up so you can stay focused on what matters to you.
